by on 5th September 2010 at 08:57 PM (Wolves stars of the early Seventies.)
John Richards joined Wolves in 1967 straight from school, and after a couple of years playing for the reserves, he made his debut at the Hawthorns in 1970, in a pulsating 3 - 3 draw. John did not score in that game, but his natural ability was there for all to see. though it was to another season before he came of age, and forged that great partnership with the Doog.

  2. Wolves's Perfect Storm: 1982

The early 1980s are a source of fascination to me, in a kind of car-crash manner. You know you shouldn't look, and it's going to be horrible, but somehow you just can't pull your eyes away. I'm old enough to remember what happened, yet young enough that it all washed over me. What had actually happened to my beloved club, and what was all the talk about it closing down? You might have noticed the use of inverted commas there – they were intentional. That’s not retirement. Retirement is working your ...

  5. LW's World Cup Blog - Part 4: The Mysterious World of the Part-time England Fan

So – England are out. Unlike previous tournaments, I believe we have failed pretty miserably this time around. I don’t class where we finished in the World Cups of 2002 or 2006 as failures – I maintain that we’re a quarter finals side, anything below that isn’t good enough, anything beyond a bonus. I really thought we had a chance this year, but the professionalism showed in qualifying was nowhere to be seen – not finishing top of a weak group was incredibly disappointing.

    But ...
