Wolves - Middlesbrough 24/10/15 Verdict Thread

We're blaming the ref but Coady should have gone? Not sure he got that much wrong. The penalty was touch and go. Maybe on the line which is a penalty. You can't sit there and say he blatantly got it wrong.

We didn't play well, we just ran around more and we're winning most of the second balls up to the striker. It wasn't good football, just successful direct play. Although it helps when the striker isn't 5ft 6 and you have Coady and Edwards running around higher up the pitch. As soon as we ran out of steam, Boro had all the ball (although it was even up until the equaliser, which they didn't have to work hard for at all). Then after they equalised it was only going one way.

As an aside, will VLP just fuck off. Coming off sulking like a kid again. Why doesn't he run at players like Henry does?!? And Henry's got no pace!!! Had another one of his corner specials into the crowd again. Shocking footballer.

You need to bloody calm down! Try methadone????

And the Arsenal comment is absolutely mentalist! Nacho Monreal cost £8.3m. Bellerin is from the Barcelona academy. Of course they are way better than what we have. Comparing it is like saying Afobe is $#@! because he isn't Lionel Messi.

PMSL will do as the real stuff is illegal! Why do we get so many shit refs? why cant we find a billionaire owner? Why is Afobe half the player he was from jan to May? Why is my titanium rusting around the groin? Bugger.....

Thoughts on some individual performances

I liked what I saw of Byrne. Tried some good stuff. Obviously not everything came off, but there was some promise there. Bit of a shame that KJ hooked him immediately after he conceded the "penalty". It was a foul for sure, and a reckless challenge, hopefully born from enthusiasm to try and stop the attack creating a bit of brain fart. All in all, I thought he did quite well

Hause and Batth were fine together until the injury. Boro really dodn't create that much and they both looked quite comfortable. Coady stepping back to fill the gap didn't look as comfortable at all. That doesn't look like a realistic option as a stop gap.

KMac - good first half. Disappeared as Boro got back into it.

Henry looked good when he came on.

RVLP - a very poor performance and rightly hooked for me. Just really really struggled.

Edwards - cracking goal, and ran himself into the ground. Did well for me.

Coady probably should have gone once because he had been booked but his first booking was an awful decision, he didn't touch him on the touchline right by our bench and we had the ball back but he dived and the referee fell for it. The ref and the lino at the end we were attacking in the second half got lots wrong, sometimes it was just little niggly things but they all added up to get Boro on the front foot. Afobe blatantly onside and through on goal but given offside, Golbourne trod on yet nothing given and Boro break and score, Afobe taken down in the box yet the foul was given against him. There were more like the Batth header at the end that looked a clear hand ball.

It was a strange second half because i thought we still looked comfortable at 1-0 and should have been given chances to make it 2 but once they scored it was always going to be tough.

Never deserved to lose that.
Would like to see the replay of the penalty because it look for all the world
that Byrne challenged outside the area.
Should we have had a penalty?
The blatant foul to us just outside their area?
Was that a 2 footed tackle by Boro in the 1st half by the SB stand?

Henry should have started over VLP...sorry but he offers nothing,
First half Golbourne was nearly back to his league 1 offerings (attacking wise)except
after bombing on twice past VLP he doesn't get the ball back..
To say he's the fastest player in our team he constantly slows the game down.

Didn't see that Byrne had any injury..infact it was him,Afobe and either
Henry or Edwards that were breaking in the 2nd half.
Thought Coady played well In defence, didn't rush the ball away when it dropped to him and
He seemed to fit in well.

Overall we were pretty unlucky today,a few shots were heading in before
Being deflected out for corners.

It was a penalty for them, just inside when he catches him but that was the only decision the referee got right in the second half. We should have had a pen, just seen the replay and after Dimi saves Henry's shot Afobe reacts and get's his leg in front of Nsue i think who brings him down only for the free kick to go their way.

No surprise seeing as he's José's old number two!

Penalty all day every day. Great free kick. Our goal was really good. Their 1st 5 wolves players failed to close him down and I think Martinez should do better. Why our keepers concede so many from distance is beyond me. We have had more shots against us on target than ANY other team in the league. That says we dont close down quick enough and that means they get more chances to score. It is a simple equation not cyber maths. Agreed we were better today but its little consolation sorry. I dont want us to be a championship also ran ffs

It was outside the box for me. You could see the line in the turf where they slid and it was a foot outside the penalty area. It was a foul and free kick for definite though. Boro were a vile side. Kick, dive, fake an elbow in the face stuff. Revolting.

Does that type of stuff get coached into them?

But surely you must think its sad when we are so so so far away from this? 8.3 million but tyhey look calm composed on the ball pass to their team mates, cross a ball. Afobe was better today but if he is worth 10 to 15 million it says a lot doesn't it. Sako cant get a regular premier start in a game and he was our stand out player. I am not trying to wind u up but the facts and the results speak for themselves. We were not good enough for the play offs last year and have gone backwards this year. And that is not good enough for me and probably most fans. Dress it up how you like. Unlucky, bad ref, blah blah we lost ..... again - good teams dont lose when playing badly.

Neither do I, my fine metallic psycho sci-fi villain friend. However, with the current situation, that is probably as good as it is going to get. We really need Morgan to sell to a new owner that can get us where we all want to be, as the current playing staff are not going to be able to do much beyond keeping us in mid table. Which is a shame, but we are where we are.

Boro are shysters. But I knew that before today and I am not paid a six figure fee to manage my beloved Wolves. If KJ didnt know what was coming to us today then shame on him. Boro play that way they have for 2 or 3 years now. They were similar last year but were undone. Today they had the run yes but showed us up with clinical finishing.

Could of and should have got something from that one. The 2nd half ref was awful compared to the first, although Coady really should have been walking in the 1st half, definitely a 2nd yellow. The loss of the game however was our own doing, Fabrinni was the best player on the park and the space we allowed him to shoot was awful, Martinez should have done better as well as it wasn't in the corner. The 2nd was Byrne being dragged into the right back area for the umpteenth time, looked a foul whether it was in the box I would need to see again. The 3rd a good free-kick after an unneccessary lunge by Baath, although understandable in the circumstances. In the meantime we were robbed of at least a free-kick prior to their 2nd and we had at least 3 cleared off or around the goaline. Henry really should have put us 2 up at one stage so a missed opportunity in my opinion to pick up the three points.
