No-one's restarted this so I will.

Listened to The XX for the first time today. It's okay but nothing really grabbed me about them. Maybe I need to give it a few more goes? I felt it petered out a little bit by the end.

Also - the magnificent Elbow are touring again next year - pre-sale next Tuesday. I have to try and get tickets for their NIA show on March 22nd. They're quite superb live.

Woo hoo!

NWW is still loving The Suburbs by Arcade Fire and has also discovered the solo offering by Dave Sitek of TV ON the Radio called Maximum Balloon - very funky.

The XX are shit.

DW is listening to Morrissey. For a change.

I love making playlists, so I've made an Arcade Fire playlist for my mate who wants to know why I continually wank over them.

Here it is:

The Suburbs
Intervention
Laika
Keep The Car Running
City With No Children
Black Mirror
Suburban War
Ocean of Noise
Power Out
Wasted Hours
Windowsill
Wake Up
No Cars Go
We Used To Wait
Antichrist Television Blues
Haiti
Rebellion (Lies)
Sprawl II (Mountains Beyond Mountains)
Tunnels

Although I have always said Tunnels is a great side 1 track 1, I've realised that it makes a quite fantastic closing track too. NWW - your thoughts on the order?

Not bad at all - High Fielity esque!!

Always like Wake Up to end, Black Mirror to start too. Tunnels is just great anywhere.

I'd also like a bit more from Neon Bible. ;)

So many good songs though.

I was going to start with Black Mirror, but I just love the impact of that first note of The Suburbs. A great opening. And the fact it's a title track as well. Wake Up was almost 2nd last, but I think you need something slightly less anthemic to end on - Wake Up would be the final singalong before the warm down.

You're right about being High Fidelity esque - I always laugh at that book because it's JUST what I do. I am a playlist MASTER. You'll notice that on that playlist, only once do I have two songs from the same album next to each other. 10 points if you can tell me which ones, and why I might have put them together.

I can't listen to the Manics without thinking of the Shirehorses singing If You Tolerate This Piss.

Genius.

Love early Manics - post This Is My Truth........................... I'm not keen.

The Holy Bible is ace, especially ifwhiteamericatoldthetruthforonedayitsworldwouldfallapart

Never liked them. I was the only one at uni who didn't. When they played at Manchester Apollo, EVERYONE but me went to see them. Leaving me on my own. So I went out and met some random lads and played pool. Top night actually. I'm still in touch with one of them. I went to his wedding.

I'm guessing this is on the back of the new album they're completing at the mo? Top gig when I saw them at the Carling in Brum

Yeah, that's right. It should be out 'early next year' apparently.

As I'm not going to Glasto next year, I have to see them during this tour, as I'm sure they'll be doing the festival circuit in 2011.
