The Oscillating Wildly Thread

The Southampton home game. THAT one.

Surely worth a re-visit. Strangest game I have been present at, and the atmosphere was something to behold and still amazes me now considering the scoreline!

Wolves 2 Blackburn 3 - relegation avoided due to a piece of magic from the Irish wing wizard who would grace a Wolves all-time XI.

Definitely one worth looking at although probably not immediately, don't want to lump a load of stuff from the same season together.

Anyone would think that you had something against him really

Mancienne - had about six good games. In the Championship, for a team that was top of the league and winning most weeks before he even got there. Still looked highly vulnerable in certain situations. Immensely, immensely overrated.

Was then terrible for us in the PL, constantly culpable for goals and stupidly weak for a professional player. Was later reinvented into the world's most limited defensive midfielder, you'd have had as much use out of sticking a cardboard box on a small forklift and controlling it from the touchline. Inexplicably came back into the back four at a critical time of the season in 2010/11 and was atrocious, nearly sent us down on his own.

Has not proven me wrong since.

Wolves 0 - 1 Preston. Boxing Day 2000.

The game that cost me my season ticket. Fucking atrocious.

Every single player without fail on The Old Gold Club says what a great manager Hoddle was. Lescott on last weeks said he was the best manager he worked under, not just at Wolves but anywhere. I can only assume he brought Eileen in to hypnotise them.

Yeah, I'd noticed that too. They seem to all be in agreement that tactically and as a coach he was superb but his man management was appalling.

Seems that spreads to every player he managed (except for T Sheringham). G-Nev praises his coaching ability and his vision was streets ahead of others (who else would have the vision to play Cort on the wing and get him putting high crosses in for Ganea) but slates his man-management

Our players that probably wouldn't have liked him:

- Ganea (no probably about it, go on Vio)
- Gyepes (for forcing him to play with an exploded knee)
- Cameron (chucked him out on loan to Millwall and was actively looking to get rid of him all the way through)
- Bischoff (signed him then only used him as a makeshift RB, and not very often)
- Frankowski (shitty tactics and no plan meant he missed out on a World Cup)

Not exactly a high baramoter but to say Gazza doesn't hold him in the highest light in his autobiography would be an understatement.

I think it was Teddy Sherringham, who tore into him too.

Basically a "never meet your heroes" piece on how he looked upto him and then when he finally met him be was a colossal cunt.

Great read as always.

I'd like you to cover any game featuring Darren Ferguson or else Barnsley 0-5.

That Barnsley game was another bizarre one. We seem to have the odd one where literally everything that could have gone wrong did go wrong!

Good read that Dan. How about either the Luton debacle that saw the end of Stale or Lambert's 1-0 win over Rotherham. The only time I've seen the team booed off after a win. And also the only time I've ever booed the team off. And I've seen some proper shite in my time.

Cheers guys - I'll try to get another one up tomorrow. Just been trying to sort some shit out since Monday, obviously I don't actually have an income at the moment :icon_lol: I think I'll be ok in the short term which puts me in about as good a boat as you can be in right now.

I still haven't had chance to read the last one! Kept the window open as a reminder. Planning on doing so at the weekend (trying to limit screen time during the week). Something to look forward to as well!

Kept the window open? Don't you have bookmarks like normal people?
