The Things You Are HAPPY About Thread.

I accidentally watched a video on Facebook Live of someone streaming themselves playing a truck driving simulator. Now that’s all I’m getting as recommended videos. Clicked on a flight sim one last night and there was a fully grown man dressed as a pilot pretending to fly a Vulcan bomber.
I saw that as well, via Facebook Watch. At first I thought it was just a really shite GTA 5 mission.

Ha, just landed three months work at a company on the i54, sorting out a 12 month backlog of import / export paperwork, so glad to be useful to someone after the last 15 months of rejections (and that was just Pablo and Lemonjelly)

Great news Paul. Best of luck to you and all being well that 3 months will turn out to be longer.

You will need to pace the work - not slow enough for them to think you are incompetent & not so fast that you finish it within the 3 months :)

Pleased that you have something even if short term.

Which company.

You can say hello to the wife as she works on the i54 site

I'll send you some Gingerbread Pabs, you seem to have an odd obsession with the MD...

That's fantastic news matey. Really pleased to hear it, and like tredders look forward to them extending your contract when they hear your jokes find out how brilliant you are :)

Wife works next door at ISP.

Get ready for being Covid tested a lot there. They had a mass outbreak a couple of weeks ago.

That'll just be ironic for me to catch it there after being in isolation for the last year, won't it ?

Possibly the worst Welcome to the Company gift ever.

Delighted for you Paul! 15 months must have been fairly soul destroying, I've just gone through 5 weeks of something similar.

I was told in Jan that my current role as Capability Development Lead was ramping down, so was given 30 days to find a new role or else face being made redundant.
Considering that we are currently in the middle of buying a house, it was pretty terrifying news.
I kept a record of all the applications I made for jobs, internally and externally. Internally I got quite a few interviews, did about 8 overall for various roles I didnt really want, but externally was horrible.
I applied to about 12 tech companies and only received replies from 4, and interviews from 2.
Makes you feel pretty worthless and it was incredibly humbling.

Anyway - long story short - I interviewed for an Operations Manager role on our Facebook account and got offered the role yesterday.
New role, new client and a promotion so in the end it all worked out but the last 5 weeks were very rough for me personally and professionally so I cannot even begin to imagine how good you must be feeling. I'm sure we will both enjoy a few drinks this weekend!

Thank you, that is one of the shortcomings of the system very little attention is paid to the mental state of the client, Universal credit rings you every fortnight and, as I'd been out of work for over a year, I came under the JET programme which is a charity aimed at getting you back in employment, they rang once a month, you did get asked to obligatory 'how are you' but nobody ever presses the subject, as you say, it is soul destroying, after holding a quite senior position, well paid, company car, private medical cover, excellent bonuses, worldwide travel to then endure over 12 months of rejections, I can cope with a fair amount of pressure, but once the self doubt starts to build it grows at an exponential rate.
Ironically as I've been isolating for most of the time, this forum does provide a lot more sustenance than people appreciate, there are people on here that do care and that goes a long long way ( even posters willing to listen to me moan at them)
Anyway things are starting to go in the right direction so onwards and upwards :)

Congratulations to you by the way

I am a little upset that they got you before Muller...was keen to kick start my career in recruitment
