Stay or Go?

I don't think it's been a vintage season stats-wise for any Wolves player (Neto and Neves have done well).

The way we're set up to play by the manager means we're either expecting Adama to take on 6/7 players and score, or for one of his crosses to curl into the net. Not sure either expectation is realistic.

His poor end product assist-wise is a fair target, but even then what has he been aiming at? Willian or Fabio, or bloody Donk steaming into the box?
His expected assists value is the second best at the club behind Neto, which I guess is where he should be given his position and role in the team.

The fact they haven't been converted isn't really Traores fault. The problem is when he does brain dead things which other players just don't do.

Id keep him unless we get an offer we can't refuse, there are other areas of the team that need work

I brought Adama up to highlight his appalling, appalling goal record. I don't think that's sustainable.

The club itself isn't cash rich at the moment (we're not in trouble, but nor are we Scrooge McDuck diving into his pile of money - incidentally, if he wanted to do that, shouldn't he have a pool of notes rather than coins? Discuss) and if we can realise £30m out of someone who isn't performing, will never do what some think he could do and that would still represent a very decent profit out of what we paid, I'd do it.

Two things here, I don't expect everyone to agree there and I don't think anyone will pay that.

Guedes is probably going to cost in the region of what we could get for Adama. Ignoring contract situations, if there was an option to either swap them or stick with what you have, what would you do.

I wouldn't have Guedes over Andros Townsend, he is fucking dreadful.

will never do what some think he could do

But he did do it though, just last season.

You may think that was a fluke and never to be repeated, but I don't think anyone can claim that this season is the one to make definitive judgements on. I understand the doubts though.

He scored four league goals. Two were in the same game. I would still say that is rubbish.

Ok, I was talking more about his dozen assists. I don't think even his most ardent defenders claim he's any kind of goalscorer.

I'm gonna leave it here anyway as I've Adama'd myself out now! x

Ive watched him about 3 times ever but that WC he was truly abysmal.

So we need to keep Adama then because no one is going to pay for him and the odds on us signing someone better for a modest fee are remote.

I bet you'd get McNeil for £30m, Burnley are owned by venture capitalists now.

They wanted £50m for Tarkowski last summer (not sure when owners changed). He’s much younger and attacking players typically cost more so I’m not sure.

They need money, the stadium is a tip and they're more vulnerable than others to what's happened over the last year.

It wouldn't happen anyway but I would swap them in a heartbeat.

Adama on his day is a match winner and a joy to watch, his day just comes round with less regularity than Haley’s comet. I’d let him go if we can turn a profit on him because when he’s off his game he’s detrimental to the team.

I’d like to think that this season is the exception for Dendoncker, he’s been great previously but an absolute disaster this. You can’t suddenly turn that shit from being a really useful player. Having said that if we could get someone better in I wouldn’t complain if he went.

RAN has to stay, I was chuffed when we signed him and I want him to stay. There’s a proper player in the making there.

Marcal looked like a great stop gap but he’s absolutely bost.

Shame about MGW as he had loads of promise but he’s just not realising it. Would I like to see him shine here? Yes. Would we miss him if he went? Probably not.

Semedo I would definitely keep. I was buzzing when we signed him and he’s getting better and better. I think having someone other than Traore in front of him would help his game a lot.

Hoever, again there’s a player in there for sure but where does he play? Another id like to see realise his potential with us.

Vitinha I just can’t make my mind up on, he looks like he could be the real thing at times but others just seems to be on the periphery. I’d need to see more of him starting games before I made my mind up.

No idea what’s happened to Podence unless it’s the obvious injury he’s carrying. He’s definitely got the quality but it just hasn’t been on show for a while now.

We need a proper quality CB to hold that defence together as well.

Ruddy - I think there's a chance he'll stay, unless he's decided now he wants game time.
José - really doubt we're signing him

Ait-Nouri - been really impressed with him the past few weeks. Definite Vinagre upgrade, and I like the look of him
Vitinha - I'm undecided. Buy if we can get a bargain.

Actively look to move on:

Marçal - doubt anyone would take him. Suspect he'll see out his contract and go, or we'll pay off if he becomes german phil #2
Cutrone
Mir
Vinagre
Kilman
Giles
Jordao
Campana
Ronan - always liked him as a player. There's got to be a championship team that'd be willing to take him on.
Dendoncker & Gibbs-White - pains me to agree we likely need to move at least one of them on. I continue to feel MGW has something to offer us though.

Consider any serious offer

Adama - agree, though my preference is to keep him. He's entertaining, exciting, unpredictable, and can be a game changer. I don't think we'll get anyone making a serious enquiry

Podence - I'd actively try to move him on, as I don't see what he offers us. Tidy footballer, but at absolute best he is jota lite.

Semedo & Hoever - I'd be keeping both. Semedo has consistently improved, and is taking on more responsibilities now. Hoever I think will develop into a decent player given time and coaching, but needs to show a little more next year.

Too old to attract interest for any return that's worth it

Rui - although not brilliant on occasion this season, I struggle to see how we'd be upgrading here too.
Boly - I'm starting to have more concerns re Boly tbh. And he's technically the best defender we have
Saiss & Moutinho - squad options
Coady - Keep for captaining abilities, or, sell and make Neves captain

Keep at all costs

Fabio
Raul
Neves - though as mentioned he may want another challenge
Jonny - love Jonny, but worried about the impact of the 2 injuries. He's going to miss a lot of football over a 2 year period. No-one will buy whilst he's injured anyway.
Neto

so for me, minimum of 1 CB (I think we need 2), CM, wide forward, and potential WB cover are pretty essential. And that is also hoping Raul comes back at his previous level (though no reason to suppose this won't happen).

I'd really like to see MGW have a run in the team. How can we judge when all he gets is 15 mins if he's lucky. My gut feeling is to keep him

I don't see the point in the third sentence as the first won't happen, much as I agree with it

I would hope he could get some decent sub minutes but my hope is looking a bit forlorn just now.

Is Brexit potentially going to affect future recruitment (particularly if we're looking at young European players)? I assume Vitanha and RAN would be ok as they were with us from 2020.

You'd think so but City don't seem to have had a problem signing a kid from Brazil. Perhaps there's an alternative reason to the one I'm thinking of?

Is there a “ big signing” exemption? Where you can claim this the next Messi and will break your transfer record?

South America are exempt from the "brexit" rules for footballers.
