Everton 1-0 Wolves: Verdict Thread

They were dire but officials on their side?
Yes, the officiating was total dogshit, but that doesn't explain why we couldn't score in a brothel, and can't defend set pieces even if they all had a gun to their heads. Fuck man, we had 10 corners in a 20 minute spell. We didn't even look like scoring from one of them! We'd have been 4-0 down if Everton had them.
All the fancy possession and play don't mean dick if you can't even get a shot on target! If we are like this next season welcome to the championship.

Well, i had a great day today, clay pidgeon shooting, then took my good lady out for a nice pub meal, all was great, until 6 pm. Nuno you have a really busy summer. Fourth lowest scorers in the Premier, SHOCKING.
It is not just about buying new players..its the mentality of going forward and willingness to get into the box and actually score and not more afraid to let a goal in..but then again we need a better more forward thinking CM and a TOWER in defence who can clear corners

How on earth someone managed to put a superstar showreel together on YouTube for him is beyond me.
I'm sure I've seen one for David Davis before.

You are in denial. We lost tonight because of his shortcomings as a player clearly past his best. Endless wasted corners & gave the ball away when fortunately they did not score. I like Moutinho but you cannot live on past glories. He clearly thinks he still cuts it - so arrogant idiot.
Denying nowt. I know how he played tonight but he has earnt enough respect not to be called an arrogant idiot by an arrogant supporter.
Players can be called out for being poor without the need to attack them so you feel better about your own shortcomings

I have a theory with regards Jose. I think he placed a bet when he joined that he wouldn`t score a goal for us during his tenure. He then placed a covering bet that he would score one, in case one went in off his arse accidentally. We had a lot of set pieces first half. A pity that we are rubbish at them. If that had followed on, we would have probably missed the penalty we were denied.

It's this kind of shite that makes me glad I didn't get a ticket for Sunday and means that I won't be tuning in to watch the game.

I don't think I can stomach listening to our fans boo our own team after a year and a half of hell. You'd think people would have a bit more respect but obviously not.

It's an easy "out" but I reckon with Jimenez, Neto and Podence we'd have won that
Our issues are deeper than just having better personnel but you are right with Raul and Neto. Those two with the Adama of tonight and MGW in behind and we'd have won.

It shows what a lack of depth we have and Nuno recognises. He also needs to get more movement off the ball when in attack but that's nothing we don't know.

Disgraceful.

Just needs to be used less often and be more of squad player. A 38 game season is probably to much for him but “arrogant idiot”? Seriously have some respect and appreciate we’ve had a player of this quality play for us.

I know I'm one of the more hawkish ones on Nuno here, but I fail to see any footballing reason why he should stay in his job. Palace, Chorley, Burnley, WHU, Spurs. There have been some bloody awful performances this season but what gets me is the absolute lack of fight in the team. Yet again confused subs, sudden reversion to 343, going down exactly the path Valencia fans told us he'd go down. The same 'solutions' bollocks after every game. Time to go I'm afraid

I feel quite ambivalent - in the absence of the pandemic and some serious injuries, his position would be under serious review.

I’m still not totally convinced about whether going to a back 4 to dominate possession is necessary to get us higher, and whether he is the man to make it happen.

absolute lack of fight in the team. Yet again confused subs, sudden reversion to 343,
Not sure I can see the lack of fight in the team tbh. Subs weren't confused for me. Bringing on Vits for Mout made sense, taking Boly off after his recent issues to put us as a 4 at the back and bringing on a forward. Now obviously would prefer a better forward but we don't have one and a midfielder in a bit better form than Donck but we can't. As for the sudden change I thought that was done to get MGW in his best position. Games are dead ones for us right now, so all about trying things. We could have thrown a few U23's in but we rightly left them at home after a tough and disapointing game on Monday.

Sky never showed a replay of the ball going out for the corner so I'll assume it was one. Didn't look clear cut but surely they would have gone back and said something if they'd kicked it out.

I can't get my head around that VAR non-decision, makes no sense at all. It's just handball, how can it not be.

Bring in Jimenez, Neto, Podence, new CM and a new CB and we're a different proposition.
Jonny as well. Even half fit he made such a difference in the few games he played.

A lot is riding on those new players. A BIG summer ahead where we can't afford to be making the same mistakes we've made before (and I'm not 100% convinced we've got the recruitment team to deliver). Along with the returning players we need 2 or 3 to come in a and have a real positive impact.
