I hope he's incredible too. But then I hoped Willian José would be really good. I hoped Mark McGhee really was the next Alex Ferguson. I hoped Stale Solbakken actually did know what he was doing. I hoped George Saville would at least vaguely learn how to tackle.

When it comes down to actual evidence there's very little to suggest this is a good idea. It's gut feel and blind faith. And I've not much time for either.
 
Well there is that stonking first Benfica season. But it’s such a small sample of work. I’m nervous rather than excited and if the team recruitment isn’t good this could get ugly.

I don't think it'll get ugly tbf. By and large the response I've seen to him on most platforms has been pretty positive. Mostly based off some half arsed reporting about him being an 'attacking' manager.

That and some idiots think his surname rhymes with lager.

18 wins from 19 though. His first 38 games were stellar. The last 10 were awful.

I hope that we are just being the equivalent of the Arsenal fans going “what the fuck? Never heard of him” when Wenger pitched up. It’s a big ask though.

That's a fooking big if, and that is the problem. What might keep the fans onside for a bit is the new bloke letting us know what his plans are before he fucks off on holiday. Because apart from Uncle George "doing us a favour" by offering him, we've heard nothing apart from potentially half the squad buggering off.
Not a bad gig in fairness though. In work for a day and then off on holiday for a month. Nice work if you can get it.

The squad is on holidays, not just him. And, given his job at the moment will be reading Nuno's reports on the players and getting up-to-date with everything inhouse, he can do that in Portugal just fine.

But you have to give him the chance. Several on here including some respected posters have gone a bit negative OTT at the moment. We don’t know what Lage brings so I would encourage a modicum of patience. You can call him shit if we are bottom in September
 
And Mr Rodrigues. I get it, he's obviously your most favourite bloke ever. You are slightly biased.
I'm basing it off what i've seen and heard. I've seen various pictures, and heard fook all from the bloke. Not a solitary word.
I'm hoping he has quite a few words to say before he buggers off on his hols in the sun.

Never said I wasn't.

Thing is, you're not being fair with him at all. He hasn't even been announced by the club and you want him to give a speech.

And then you're kind of giving him a hard time for signing and going back home whilst the entire club is on holidays, so he doesn't even have players to coach at the moment.

Also wish I had a job that allowed me to go back home for a while! The best I got was 3 days home working days.

We don't know anything apart from what we've read. And what i have read doesn't give him the greatest CV in the world. It doesn't make him an upgrade on the last manager, which i thought was the whole point of getting rid of Nuno.
And i haven't called him shit. I've said he's not an upgrade on paper, which for me is a bit disappointing. Maybe he will be, but i wouldn't want to put money on it right now.
Not everyone is going to tow the party line, which is "he's the new messiah". He's nothing yet. Just a new bloke come to a very high pressure job,with not that good a record of doing the job he's signed up for.

No. I want to hear from him AFTER he is announced, and before he goes on holiday. So a day or 2 to let us know the plans. It doesn't need any players there to do that does it?
