Well whether it’s referred to as an “upgrade” or not, essentially we want the new keeper to be better than the one leaving!

I agree with your comments on Sa in principal. But from the information we have to hand, he’s not as good as Rui (and Rui hasn’t been great himself!).

I suppose this is where the trust in the scouting team comes in.

Not entirely true.... On the third day He rose again from the dead, ascended into Heaven, and sits at the right hand of God the Father Almighty. Whether he is available this summer is another matter. Personally, wouldn't be my first choice as the appearance on earth of JC would probably signal the start of the apocalypse and I am not sure Rishi Sunak would be keen to extend the furlough scheme again and it might cause a further delay to getting football supporters back into stadiums.
 
see i would've guessed he'd be the one to go to roma, not rui.

although maybe he's still bitter about their last falling out. it's easy to talk forgiveness, another matter of acting that way.

Much as he’s been a figure of fun on here all season he did actually win their POTS. Low bar I know but maybe he isn’t as bad as he’s portrayed.

That's a terrible choice by their fans and probably a bit of homerism and niceness creeping in for the situation he was put it.

He has been the worst keeper in the prem two years running of any established starter, he is frequently beaten from range by the sorts of shots others save. He palms things into dangerous areas that he should save and causes a lot of issues by late reactions. He is not a prem keeper and is likely to end up like a Butland type that still struggles at the lower level.

If a keeper wins POTS, that says more about the team than the player...

Good. I suppose. Rather keep Rui, but a move for Ramsdale would be utter lunacy.
