Nuno to leave Wolves

There's a few too many people on here who think 'being wrong is for other people'.

Happy to drag up stupid/incorrect comments and calls others make but very touchy when that spotlight falls on them or their pals.

Somewhere in the dark recesses of an Internet archive you can probably find me talking about what a good signing Oleg Luzhny is or that I saw Darren Ward play in a friendly at Grays and he looked the real deal.

On this site alone I've suggested Sean O'Driscoll as our new manager at least twice.

I get plenty wrong :D I hope I'm wrong about Lage, but it's all about opinions based on the evidence available. It's never as binary as "wait and see, have a moan if we lose, it's all good if we win".

No, it was an emotionally charged way to shut down valid criticism of Nuno on a massively pro-Nuno forum.

Don't tell me what happened and why like I wasn't there.
That's not what I'm getting at

I think the homesick thing was one of many different reasons suggested for our underperformance. I don't recall many if any using it as the sole excuse for a 13th place position. He certainly looked tired at times and his behaviour after the Burnley game was very out of character. I've stated so many times I think it was a combination of various factors but I guess people don't care about that.

Him turning up at Spurs six weeks later is irrelevant to that theory anyway, even if people think he had that issue, he's now had substantial time to be with family.

Calling it homesick gate is hilarious though. At the moment people saying 'EVERYONE SAID THIS OMG' seems to stick for some reason. Like saying loads of people think Lage will get us relegated when in reality, I think Dan is the only person who has even nearly suggested it. Odd behaviour.

I've definitely said we have a greater chance of going down under a relative unknown who has never managed in England, whereas under Nuno I always felt we had a <1% chance of relegation (we were nowhere near last season despite our best player being out for nearly the whole campaign). Equally there is the argument that we'll have the same upper mid-table/pushing for Europe results but with more expansive football, which would be a net gain (I just don't think this will happen).

Don't think I've ever said "he will definitely relegate us". I did say that about Saunders after about two games.

It's always been a forum feature, have you only just noticed? I've been told I hate Nuno or that I want him sacked on multiple occasions (by quite prominent members sometimes) without directly saying or even implying any of those things.

I guess 'people don't care about that' either, no-one bats an eyelid, and I certainly have never had white knights or thread police come to my rescue over the years during such instances, so maybe we all need to just suck it up rather than freak out when it happens to people who think they're above it

For someone who doesn't care about such things you don't half go on about them 😉

Some short memories when it suits. From around December onwards it was mentioned after pretty much every game and any other consideration was placed firmly on the back burner. Six months on and it's played down like it didn't happen.

Yeah i agree, I fully bought into the homesick thing too, how Nuno has flashed his knickers at every available job in England since has definitely shattered that theory.

We were pony, people guessed at reasons why, a global pandemic and its effect seemed like a pretty obvious answer to most. Turns out it probably wasn't.

Let's move on, eh?

At 9.08 this morning you said that you'd stop going on about it.

Ah, another impartial mod.

It's a thread about Nuno leaving isn't it?

If people respond to my posts after 9.08 I don't have right of reply then?

Perhaps he was homesick, he went home had 6 weeks of Mrs NES telling him to mow the lawn, paint the front room, taking the car into the garage picking up the dry cleaning he's thought stuff this I need football back in my life

Perhaps Bruno Lage will be similarly judged especially if we lose our first home game.
We could lose the first three in a 2003 style, and he'll be right under the grill then. Not from me, from the wider fanbase.

I don't think a single Premier League club (bar Newcastle, who would take anyone over Steffa Barnes) has fans who in April 2021 would have said "we should sack our manager and appoint Bruno Lage".

It was put forward as more than just 'a guess' (read the Albion matchday thread if your memory needs a jog)

But yep, let's move on, have to make sure 'chat shit get banged' only applies to plebs like me and Cyber 😉

I know the point you're making, but surely fans really know jack shit about who's suitable/appropriate/any good/attainable?

Well I've literally always held firm that the main issue has been the lack of a pre-season. Injuries a big issue yes, Nuno not being able to see his family also always seemed a pretty reasonable issue to me too. I don't think any other consideration was placed firmly on the back burner at all.
