Welcome Bruno Lage

Many candidates in a young Wolves squad could benefit from his tutelage. Morgan Gibbs-White, the shining light of the club’s academy in the past decade, has already made an impression.

“For me, he is a main player,” Lage says of the 21-year-old midfielder. “I said to him two days ago that he’s not a kid any more. Every minute I give him inside of the pitch, show the defence that you are the player you want to be. He will be in my first team.”

I hope MGW does take this opportunity, I still believe!

Though I have some fears about the upcoming season for various reasons, I don't think we are in a Saunders situation with the manager. We will see how he is tactically, but he obviously can coach, which is why I am less worried than others about getting dragged into a relegation battle or anything like that.

That is a great interview. And didn't use the word solutions once! Let's hope the players want to play for the guy and at least give 100% for 90 mins in the first game. He certainly knows the weakness's that we all talk about so maybe there is hope we'll sign the right ones in this window...

He comes across well in that (even though Spiers is such a terrible writer).

Interesting to read he likes to adapt, knows he needs players, but still gets what he wants the players to do.

It’s down to the recruitment team and Jeff to give him what he wants now and I think we may well transition to 4-4-2 with Silva as a second striker at some point if Lage gets his centre back and centre midfielder.

I'm really with you on MGW. I still believe he is a really good and intelligent player, and I do hope that he comes into his own this season.
Think I said on another thread his ability to engage in quick passing and moving could be a skill Lage likes and utilises.

One thing i thought was particularly good about MGW on Saturday which i have been critical of him not doing before, he went in really committed in a couple of challenges, was really good to see.

He's been doing that all pre-season. I think its worth giving him a go in CM (dons tin hat)

In a 3-4-3 why not. Gets around the pitch, mobile without being quick, good energy, not going to get bullied physically. I mean that’s all Donck offers. If we can provide some actual ability on the ball then I’m all for it.

Would basically be a hybrid between Moutinho and Donck

with the recruitment we have few other options tbf.

Personally , its disappointing. They have brought in a new manager and so far , not backed him. That seems a bit silly. Two more weeks of the window and I will be fuming if we sell Neves and Traore now, given our rather pathetic last fortnight after a promising start with Sa Trincao and Mosquera. Getting irritated.

The club have really let him down with the complete lack of support for him in the transfer market. He’s on a hiding to nothing because as soon as results start to go against us the fans will turn in him and negatively compare him to Nuno. But let’s be honest, he’s had zero backing to give him the best chance of success. It’s basically “Nuno couldn’t get these players to play attacking football, here have a go see what you can do”. Shameful.

Yeah, hard to disagree with Jasper or Dire on this. It feels a bit like when we hired Stale to work with MM's squad. Luckily, it seems like Lage is prepared to more flexible than Stale in terms of working with what he's got rather than trying to get players to perform roles they simply aren't capable of doing.
