Southampton 0-1 Wolves: Verdict Thread

Was talking today with a Mexican fan. He said Raul's goal was THE sporting news yesterday (not because they are all Wolves fans). A confident goal scoring Raul is as important to their team as he is to ours.

Read about 5-7 pages of that thread, picking up from when Raul scores.

Hard to believe there’s a fan base out there more critical of their team and manager than ours but here we are! Most (if not all) thought we were shite and that they should just be turning up to beat us.
I read some of it, what surprised me is they all pretty much want rid of the manager who has kept them as a mid table team for a few years despite their best players being sold off every season, none of them seem to blame the bosses of their club.

A great win, watched it live in a caravan full of Albion fans, VERY ENJOYABLE ! so pleased for Raul, Sa was super, as was Coady, but why the fuck are we still playing Marcal, what purpose does he serve ??

Well your supporting my point.

What is the basis for the confidence - ability. Not whether they’ve played well recently, won a few games or the managers said some nice things.

A more able finisher does better as they can take their eye off the ball and look at the goal whilst still maintaining control of the ball and their body. They then aim for a spot and hit it more often than not.

They’ve been in the situation 1000s of times before over numerous years. They’ve practiced it loads, they’ve succeeded loads, they have the muscle memory, the instinct.

Semedo is just looking for a good contact and like at any level, that normally means it’s going down or near the middle. Pretty much where the phrase “hit it too well” comes from.
it's what i call the nirvana moment. when an opportunity is there you don't need to think because you've been in that position so many times before - when something didn't go your way, you thought about it off the pitch, so you knew how to better react next time. so when a certain chance happens you just go through your pre-set routine(s), almost empty headed, at peace, nirvana. it's one of the greatest feelings (provided you score).

We seem to be confusing confidence with ability. Semedo didn’t miss because his confidence is low. He missed but he lacks
Semedo missed, like he's done several times ,because he lacks ability and composure, Raul's goal was full of both. Watched the Spurs game ,Nuno looks like he's had enough ?

It also sounds like Spurs have had enough of Nuno. I feel for him.

On the other side of that coin only three games of the 11460 played in the Premier League have ended up 9-0 and Hassenhuttl has overseen two of them.

I can see why they don't like him but the board seem to get a free ride (on the small amount I read) They seem to do ok, get players to a decent level then sell any good one's, 5hey surely can't keep doing that and expect to be a safe mid table team

There was a definite Chris Hughton at Forest vibe to him on Sunday.

Bringing Shane Long on when you need a goal is fairly desperate. He has two Premier League goals since May 2019.

Perhaps he'd be happy to get the sack, so he didn't have to keep magicking players out of nothing. Perhaps he's hoping for the Newcastle job after we stuff them 6-0 on Saturday.......o-oh I've done it now.

You'll be on the list too if it happens. Was it Punts who transferred Toney out of his fantasy team the other week?

The Mexican team is desperate for a goal scorer, although being in Texas I'm sure you're probably aware of the struggles they had at that position over the summer.

I can't say I do. He was never the right fit for a club like Spurs, nobody forced him to join a rival club six weeks after leaving us. Could have had a (supposedly) much-needed sabbatical or gone to another league

I wished he'd gone back to Portugal, I care enough about the bloke not to want to see him pilloried and I'm afraid that is coming
