Palace 2-0 Wolves: Verdict Thread

But that doesn't answer the question I've been asking since we didn't sign Botman....why is he the messiah at CB? Who has seen him play? What makes people think he's better than the players we already have?
I'm not saying he isn't the answer, I genuinely know nothing about him.
Neither does anyone else, he's the messiah because that's who the target was, but other than maybe a couple of people it's not Botman they want it's someone - he's just the name

Let me tell you why I'm pissed off.

- It costs me nearly £600 a year to watch half our games. This is money I don't really have. It's a ridiculous increase given next to no PL clubs put prices up this year but we did, and especially given the prices when Fosun took over. I don't want to be one of those ticket stub waving wankers but yes, in that context, it does matter more to me than someone who watches half a stream of a game.

- Our goalkeeper is a twat, and I don't deal well with that.

- We haven't improved our defence since we got promoted. To the point we currently have someone playing there who we exclusively considered to be a midfielder in the Championship.

- Our set pieces are mostly a joke.

- Most of our signings since 2019 have been questionable at best, awful at worst. Including £35m on a striker who doesn't look anything like a Premier League player, let alone an elite player.

- The manager talks big about signings, but when it comes down to it, doesn't have the clout to push the owners' hand. On whom...

- The owners employ people who routinely lie to us on any manner of affairs. And seem to want to milk the support more than anything else. They don't want to put any more money in which is fine, but they're also not spending money that the club makes on its own.

- The twats also seem to think we want to know about eSports. We don't.

- We frequently aren't fun to watch, nowhere near has much has changed from last season as people would have you believe. Sure, if teams let us play, we can look quite good. And never close me down and give me five yards of space, I can look like a shite David Beckham at 40. Soon enough though, that's easy for opponents to sort out.

- As we have next to no strength at executive level, you tell me why I should have any faith that January or indeed next summer will be a good window. Because I don't think it will be.

- We're currently flogging a 35 year old Joao Moutinho into the ground because we can't be arsed signing a midfielder.

- We genuinely tried to sign Kieffer Moore. Kieffer Moore.

There's more too but I'll leave it for now. It's not a reaction to Saturday, it's how the club has travelled over the last two years or so. I don't like it. I could find something else to do instead, I suppose.
Wouldn't argue with much of this, except the set pieces.. think we've been much better this season, both defensively and attack.
Sa.....no idea if he's more of a twat than most other footballers, his brain farts do concern me though.

Absolutely, we'll be shopping in the market where any signing will have an element of risk. I don't trust our transfer team.
My main concern with this seasons business is going with no experienced midfielders in reserve.

You're a wild dude but you're our wild dude. I may not agree with you about much but I certainly can't question your attachment to the club.
That's what makes it all interesting. Its pointless being the same. I am just myself as everyone else is taken. And so am I ( Mr Hyde :) )

Personally I think Sa is just as good as Rui. Shot stopping he's just as good. And he comes out, sweeps and claims balls much better. Rui had a few brain-farts as well last season and goals against attributed to him for letting shots go through him or not covering his posts well enough.

As for set-pieces, well aren't we one in the best in the league for them? We haven't conceded directly from one, and have got a lot better at scoring from them, as has been mentioned on commentary several times recently. The delivery can still often be lacking, but I guess most teams in the league have that complaint with certain players.

Sa's brain farts are just more dramatic than Patricio's

Fair play for breaking it down, and fully understand and respect your first point.

I imagine it must be a cumulative thing though, as a lot of the elements (most of which it's hard to argue against) have been there for at least a little while? We've had annoying people in places of power before, bullshitters and also players who I'm sure boiled your piss. I think we've played better in spells than we did for much of last season, but that's subjective perhaps

I've been beating the transfer window drum for years now, so I'm with you on that.

I wouldn't say I'm optimistic, but I'm happy to keep an eye on proceedings and be generally supportive. I do think Bruno has something about him, and that we have enough ability and (just as importantly) character in the squad for him to build on.

It's a relationship supporting Wolves, sounds like you're feeling a slump, and need some love and consideration back!

Tell me about it! Aren’t all us members still waiting for our free pair of socks, or whatever it is, because of a fuck up?!

Amateur hour all over the place!

The Summer interviews are what killed my faith in how the club is run, particularly Jeff's doubling down on Fabio, his lies about FFP coupled with Vinnie's about ticket prices.

With the correct people in charge we could have kicked on to the next level we are going backwards on and off the pitch, which is really dispiriting. I say that whilst recognising that's a lot better than being a Championship also ran, so I do get the perspective element, just that be grateful - we were in League 1 8 years ago lacks full context.

I had my hat and socks about 3 days after I signed up for membership.

The bobbles has fell off the hat mind

I know it's hard for you to believe, but not everything is about you.

I didn't aim a single word of that post at you.

Here are the first choice PL keepers I wouldn't take over Sa (not to say they're worse, I just wouldn't actively swap them):

Ramsdale
Krul
McCarthy
Foster

He isn't very good.

By the way, by definition it absolutely does mean more to me and everyone else who pays for tickets. How the fucking hell could it not?

Ramsdale has actually been pretty good for Arsenal..

8th place masks a litany of flaws at the moment. House built on sand though.
This is the bit for me.

I’ll caveat it first my saying I’m pro Bruno and was “anti Nuno” if we want to call it that. So my bias for either isn’t what’s influencing my view.

A lot of fans are using the league position to ignore everything that’s in front of them.

1) the league table still doesn’t mean a fat lot at this point, one win still seperate 6th and 13th. Also there’s going to be teams who have played all of the current top 4, who are clearly better outfits than everyone else by far at this stage.

2) moreover on that, we still haven’t actually played anyone good yet. So in 6 weeks time when we have, we most likely won’t be 8th if all other things remain equal.

3) everton aside, we aren’t playing well. We played well in the first 3 or 4 games and were unlucky. Since then we have had huge slices of luck. We could easily have been 3 or 4 points worse off. And then are we allowed to critique the manager? As we’re not “in 8th with 4 wins in 5 FFS”, even though nothing would have actually changed to the eye, the table was just a little better.

Palace was truly terrible. But it wasn’t massively different to the games which came before it. They just weren’t as bad as the other teams.

He hasn’t been supported in the transfer market and it’s unfair to judge him until he has. But it thinks it’s also fair to judge the negative, Nuno esque play recently. And I’m not having that with the players we have available “they can only play one way”. These are all technically gifted players, there is no reason with the right set up that we can’t keep the ball against the midfields we’ve been up against

Agree with all this. Bruno has to find a way around other teams playing a defensive midfielder, as West Ham will next up.

I'm surprised he didn't do anything against Palace, perhaps he can't, I'm not sure yet.

I do know when we play well we're really good to watch. That first half against Everton was a fantastic show of football, which is what makes the Palace game so baffling. Either he's making bad decisions or he's taking some fucking terrible advice.

This pisses me off more than it should…

I buy three season tickets and get no bobble hat or socks, just £18 (I think) admin fees. It’s a bugbear of mine that I won’t let go. Charge me an extra tenner per ticket so you don’t advertise that you’re taking the piss, especially as this years admin fees were spent asking me to use my plastic card from two seasons ago.

Ooh interesting game. I'd add whoever you consider Newcastle's first choice and Raya when fit, but I still think it's a bit early to have a firm view. That'd make him 14th which is about where I think this current squad would finish, so he's par for where we are at. Whether that's where we should be from the platform we had is a different debate, covered by the points in your main post.

Can we add Peter's spawn and Sanchez. The former because he's a cunt the latter because he's just not very good.

I'm not interested in the tat, just don't take the piss, either put it in the ticket cost or as they are where they are now just don't charge it at all. Before Paul says what about concert or theatre tickets, they have that charge, well I'm not emotionally invested in Ticketmaster or the NEC and Wolves aren't selling a 3rd party product, they own the full transaction.

Yeah, I've spent £84 for the opportunity to get in a bun fight to pay full whack for tickets. I've only been 3 times this year and probably will only go another 3 times tops.

I've got a wooley hat worth £3 and a pair of socks that are threadbare already. I think my lads will get some tat pen (they are still waiting on)

But did you pay an £18 admin fee?
Moot points I know but all reflective of the distain they appear to have for their “legacy customers”

I’m with DW on most of his points. Ultimately I’ll always buy a ST for the rapidly decreasing number of years I have, but I champion the cause for those not able to make that same commitment.

I get prices go up as, do the players wages we pay. Don’t whack an insulting admin fee on to when I’ve done the administration online and I’m using a two year old ticket
