A complete write off, you'd think.

Podence instead of Adama and Moutinho instead of Dendoncker please, though I doubt it'll make any difference. Hopefully RAN is fit as Marçal is no good.

2020/21: L 1-3 (H), L 1-4 (A)
2019/20: W 3-2 (H), W 2-0 (A)
2018/19: D 1-1 (H), L 0-3 (A)
2017/18: D 0-0 (A, LC, lost on pens)
2011/12: L 0-2 (H), L 1-3 (A), L 2-5 (H, LC)
2010/11: W 2-1 (H), L 3-4 (A)
2009/10: L 0-3 (H), L 0-1 (A)
2003/4: W 1-0 (H), D 3-3 (A)
2001/2: L 0-2 (H), L 0-1 (A)
1999/0: W 4-1 (H), W 1-0 (A)
1997/8: D 2-2 (H), W 1-0 (A)
1996/7: W 3-0 (H), W 1-0 (A)

Traore will start. Bruno will likely use similar tactics to when we beat them there. Or he will if he's got any sense.

Adama played RWB for 70 minutes that day and Cutrone started so I doubt it.

Similar not identical. Our only option is to defend and play on the counter.

Personally I'd go 3-5-2 with Raul/Adama up top and Donk at DM.

Dendoncker won't do anything against these and I don't think we can pick someone with 7 goals in 117 games up front.

It's a free hit because we have the points on the board. Picking a team that's nowhere near the best we can put out isn't the way forward.

Last chance for Adama, here, for me.

I would go 3-5-2. Clearly we won't see much of the ball and we will be relying on hitting them on the break, so the pace of Traore will be essential in getting us up the pitch. If we can get him playing off/closer to Raul (instead of the stretched three forwards that we have seen for a few weeks now where there has been zero link play), we could get some joy. Especially if Raul drops deeper to link the play and gets Adama in behind or over the top*

If RAN isn't fit, the only option there is Marcal, but at least he'll keep things tight.

Raul-Adama
Neves-Donk-Moutinho
RAN-Saiss-Coady-Kilman-Semedo

*yes, yes, I'm aware this means Adama actually making movement off the ball

I'd play Moutinho instead of Adama,
Podence instead of Hwang and go 5311. Saturday was a back 5 in reality, I expect this to be the same

It will be exactly the same 'style', there might be some tinkering with personnel but that won't make much if any difference. I'm hoping for a similar defensive display but with more of a goal threat on the break. The 5-3-1-1 isn't a bad idea, mind you that's pretty much how we ended up on Saturday for large parts it seemed to me

I’m not banging the drum for Traore, but giving anyone as their last chance an away match at City seems a bit harsh. On the flip side, you’d hope for him to be making a defining, positive contribution against Brighton and Watford. Granted, more effort off the ball should be achievable against anyone.

532, Adama and Raul.

Much like Saturday. Our only chance will be Adama chasing Sa’s kickouts.

I like Podence, but these sort of Games where we don’t have the ball aren’t for him. He’s not quick enough or strong enough to cause them any problems for me. In games where we are actually going to try and have the ball then yes, get him In.

If he's off, which I appreciate is just my supposition then I'd not start him again.
I don't see the point in playing him either. Rather we played players that are going to be here long term in a formation that suits.

If Coady is injured then go with a 4-3-3 (4-5-1) and use Trincao and Podence wide.

I'd drop Hwang too as he was terrible against Liverpool.

Boly is back training and is travelling with the squad tomorrow as is RAN .

So we've had the press conference, but you wouldnt know it if you've been watching Sky Sports. Klopp, Pep and Stevie G's return rehashed all afternoon...
