According to Transfermarkt the Gestifute clients are:

Nuno
Mourinho
Gattuso
Lage
Sergio Conceicao
Karanka
Rui Faria
Hugo Vicente
Vasco Seabra
Nuno Capucho

Never heard of Vicente or Seabra. Vicente doesn't even have a Wiki page, Seabra seems to bounce around mid/lower table Portuguese teams for not very long with not much success.

Faria stopped working with Mourinho in 2018 and has managed one Qatari club for a year since, out of work now.

Capucho had a few (shit) months with Rio Ave in 2016 but otherwise has just managed a series of Portuguese second division teams.

We all know Karanka, plays even worse football than Lage, awful at Blues and Forest, falls out with players and boards all the time, he got the Granada job until the end of the season a couple of weeks ago.

Gattuso seemed to be ok-ish at Milan and Napoli, got the Fiorentina job last summer but it all got cancelled within a fortnight or so without him taking charge of a game, also seemed close to the Spurs job before Nuno but the fan reaction made Levy reconsider, hasn't worked since.

Conceicao has been Porto manager since 2017. Won two titles and they're going to win it this year too.

Nuno won't come back. Probably wouldn't be a good idea even if he would.

Mourinho isn't going to leave Roma for us.

Pretty much leaves a shortlist of one, at best two if we go down that road!

Mentioned it a couple of times now but Fonseca (not Gestifute) is about the best we could do I think. Gets linked to a lot of jobs all the time but hasn't nailed one down since he left Roma.

PPG everywhere except Paços de Ferreira is pretty good.

Reputation for attacking football, but people told us that was what we were getting from Lage, and look at us.

I'd take that swap to be honest and I'd be more comfortable with someone with his experience being given a budget than Lage, who still has next to fuck all experience and appears to regularly get into awful runs of form.

This relationship with Mendes is growing a bit stale isn't it? Its been years since it has done us any favours in the market, serves mainly now to tout our players for moves elsewhere and his list of managers is far from inspiring if we have to recruit managers from his stable.

As last time, I would be happy with Fonseca as I was before Lage came in. When it seemed Lage may be going a few days ago someone claimed Fonseca had been shown around Compton but clearly bullshit.

Lage and the players due back today following their well deserved few days off.

There was also the random link to Bruno Genasio a couple of months ago which came out of the blue like when Lage was first linked to replace Nuno.

The Mendes relationship is probably going a bit stale as you say but by the same token I'd dread to see what players they'd sign without it. The club don't have the recruitment people in place to work independently. The none Mendes clients they have signed have been shit.

Bruno Genasio seems a polarising character.

Almost like a French Lage

I'm not convinced Lage is in huge amounts of danger anyway, unless he's royally pissed off an important chunk of the senior players.

He'll have 'delivered' a top ten finish and he does what he's told/accepts what he's given

I think that's what will happen. I wouldn't be surprised to see a fire sale of senior players and his own bought in.

Not a plan I would go with mind

More of a fire release. No fees for Saiss, Marcal or Moutinho and hard to see Boly bringing much in. We’ve sleepwalked into a situation where huge - by PL standards - of squad changes are quite likely.

The flip-side of this is that if you were tasked with rebuilding the squad, who would you actually retain? For me:

Retain: Sa, Kilman, Jonny, Ait-Nouri, Neto, Neves (but he'll likely be gone regardless)
Maybe: Cody, Semedo, Podence, Silva
U23s: Gibbs-White, Mosquera, Chiquino

(I'll admit to having a soft spot for Dendoncker. I think he has passion and he puts a shift in - essentially the Belgian David Edwards)

Worked out alright for Palace last summer.

If you only shop at the superstore 'Mendes' you are limiting your recruitment to a small amount of the available pool.

Hats off to Palace, of which some of their signings in the last couple of years have been touted on here as players we should have been looking at. I doubt if we did.

I don't think 7 of the 14 who played on Saturday will be here next season. I now think Raul will be one of them, it'd be best for all concerned. It's only us asking for too much or him not wanting to reduce his wages that I can see him staying

I think we're overdue something of this nature tbh as stagnation signs are evident.

It's easy for clubs like us to fuck this up at the best of times though. Can anyone from Bruno up be trusted with such a vital reset?

Yeah, sounds like until they make a big sale now they don't have loads of money as they had to spend so much last summer though.

However I think they are signing Cheick Doucoure for £15m who appears to be the type of midfielder we could do with.

Clearly we can have a big clear out - like most I think it’s necessary - but well run clubs opt for evolution not revolution.

I don’t think it matters who the manager is as they don’t appear to have a massive say in recruitment anyway. Possibly one of the non-performance related factors in Nuno leaving that led to the ‘mutual’ decision.

Then got a cheap yes man coach in instead

I feeling like a visionary 😉

But it is the evolution model that the club says it aspires to (they say) - hence the large fees paid for young, inexperienced players who were not ready for first team football. That is also a risky strategy but it is a choice they have made rather than improving the first team with oven ready players who are better than the ones we have already.

The problem for a club like ours is that we can bring young players in, develop them and then they leave which (in theory) is the model of a successful club that evolves and is self sufficient. We are now looking at players to sell that others want to pay for without having suitable replacements ready having been developed - we sold Jota, already had Neto....and that's about it really. Silva, Hoeveer (nearly £50 million), not ready. The rest of our purchases have been squad fillers or like for like replacements (Sa, Semedo).

At the moment it feels like we don't have any clear strategy, or if we do it isn't working. It looks very possible that there will be a significant turnover of players this summer whoever the manager is which means we will be able to spend big...but not necessarily wisely.

The discussion on here has been fair and balanced.

But the poll itself is a bit of a joke isn't it? Total waste of time when it is so heavily loaded like that, i expect better from a forum such as this.

I took it as a simple do you want him to stay or go poll.
