Summer 2022 Transfer Window

They are at the Round of 16 stage now, that and the 1/4s are before the window closes.

Tbh I actually think it's very commendable that he'd rather wait until this season has finished, and not drop his manager and team mates in the shit.

Can’t help but think the whole thing is bollocks.

Not even Wolves could be so stupid as to send someone halfway across the world to try and sign someone who is completely unavailable.

Well not completely unavailable is he.

If we contacted the club and they said "we are happy to do business if you meet the release clause" then things start to happen. Club knowing Benfica are definitely making a move and few others that could, it makes perfect sense to send someone over to speak with the player. If nothing else, it shows the player how serious you are. If he isn't budging on this desire to see out the season, then we have a foot in the door should he become available after our window has closed.

I know we are all on a huge negative with the club right now, but sending someone to speak to a target is not a stupid move, infact it actually shows some basic football business knowledge (a huge step up for us in recent times). Also if other reports are to be believed he is over there to speak to others. Don't forget we have made a big thing about the South American market since Brexit and we have people over there a fair bit now.

Bookmarked for when Enzo signs for Benfica next week.

All that would mean is

A) He is a liar*
B) He fancied playing in Portugal more than England

We miss out on him, at least we can see we actually tried this time in regards of meeting the asking price and making the effort to get the player.

* or his club said "sorry pal, regardless of your good intentions we need the money, so pick a club and fook off". Last time we signed a player who really didn't want to move and was forced into it, it went down a treat and we all got to sing about pizza and pasta for a couple of months

Doesn't look like anything's going to get announced this week in terms of new signings (unless something comes out of the blue, which has been known to happen, but I highly doubt we're close to anyone), so Bruno will be reporting back next week with zero new signings or faces, no international players and no Saiss, Ruddy or Marcal. No idea what Moutinho will be up to as nothing's been announced on that front so he could be missing too.

And we only have two pre-season fixtures lined up for them.

Have to say, the people in charge have done a fantastic job to be even worse than the last couple of years. I genuinely didn't think it was possible.

I agree with the sentiment Jinky but I am more worried about getting the right players rather than the timing of when they come in. I'm not worried that the 3 you have mentioned have gone as only Saiss would be a contender for a starting slot and we have Gomes or Boly who could slot in instead. The problem will arise if/when Neves and/or Moutinho go as we will have to have replacements for those two.

Poor old Bruno isn't going to have enough players to have a 5 a side game.

(but i agree with you. more just making the point that we genuinely look clueless as a club, at the moment)

Yeah, this 'I want everyone in before we come back' is at best wishful thinking, at worst trite shite from Lage, was never going to happen.

Twitter is awful at the moment. Let's just say I don't think many of our fans should get their hopes up of being invited to humdrum comedy panel shows with their hilarious zingers.

Assuming that we are targeting people in good faith then I guess it comes down to the realistic viability of those in the second sentence. No harm in asking the question, but if they aren't realistically attainable then ultimately it just defers back to sentence one. The lack of option b,c and d is where we've come unstuck previously and I'm not convinced won't again

No Neves, Coady, Dendoncker either I imagine as I think internationals come back in the second week.

Just to make you feel better about it :D

Sa and Semedo injured. MGW, Raul, Boly and Fabio also on the International list. Hwang on military service (only 3 weeks unfortunately)
