Summer 2022 Transfer Window

Well, Jonny, Boly, Dendoncker and Traore all joined us that summer (either on loan or permanently) didn't have Mendes as their agent (in Traore's case at the time, he moved to Gestifute latterly), so maybe it's just those 4 who are shit then? No one else was in for them after all.

I doubt other clubs would have been deterred by Mendes to look at Jota, Raul, Moutinho, Patricio either, maybe they just thought they were shit.

But you miss the point, if players are only as good as the clubs they are linked with or signed for then no decent players would ever play for a lower league team...........ever!

Clubs unearthing hidden/semi hidden gems just doesn't happen in your experience of football then? How depressing.

Traore is indeed shit.

You don’t think RAN, MGW, Neto, Podence, Adama, Chiquinho can run at people?

If we played a back 5 in the way we have done you may have a point but still wouldn’t see an issue with Neves and Palhinha in a 343 if we actually played it properly. I also would assume it’s highly unlikely we play a back 5 again unless we don’t actually sign anyone and Bruno feels he has to.

I'm not sure of the point you are making? Only MGW out of those would be able to play as a central midfielder.

I think we'll play a back 3 next year, regardless of who is signed because of Coady.

Palhinha is hardly an uncut gem is he? He's 27 in a couple of weeks.

He's an average player going for a fee that befits an average player.
I'm not saying he is, I'm saying the idea that a player is only as good as the clubs that they are linked with is not a good measure of their ability.

And it works both ways.

We will get relegated if we do with Lage in charge

my point is that in a 4231 they don’t need to be able to run at people…

They don’t even need to do it in a 343. It’s the role of the WBs and 2 #10s.

Maybe, the way we played last year was completely unsustainable which has why we had a terrible end.
If the end of last season is a measure we'll be bottom by the World Cup if Lage lasts longer than 10 games.

Jeff Shi and Scott Sellars will unfortunately keep their jobs until next season.

I understand and if you have the right players in those positions it's workable but we don't have them.

And yet Barcelona signed him, one of the biggest clubs in the world, so you're arguing against your own theory.

For nothing and gave him about 4 games before seeing he is in fact shit and then just parked him on the bench before handing him back to us. They've signed loads of wank footballers in the last few years, Martin Braithwaite is another example.

Exactly, which pisses all over your own ridiculous statement that players are as good as the clubs they are linked with :ROFLMAO:🤷‍♂️

When Man United were one of the best teams in the world they signed some proper dross. It doesn’t matter how big a club is, they all make mistakes.

Eh? It's literally common sense, it's why players who are linked with Walsall don't sign for man city.

Your example is clubs signing shit players, I'm saying the vast majority of top level premier footballers don't sign for Fulham when everyone knows they are available for a reasonable fee.

So then we’re playing the wrong system, have poor attacking players or poor coaching/tactics.

We shouldn’t be signing CMs to compensate for the inadequacies of our forwards, WBs or our manager.

I think you need to re read the exchange between myself and WS, I agree with you.

It's him that is saying players are only as good or bad as the clubs they are linked with/play for.

We have players to fit a certain system. We can sign a CM who will make that system better or we can ship out half of our current team and replace them in one window. The latter never works though.

So you think £40m on Nunes (or similar) solves our goalscoring problems in a 343 whilst also not making us more more susceptible to conceding?
