Dear Wolves Fans,

On behalf of the "Retro Liga" Association, I would like to interest you in the idea of the League of Extraordinary Gentlemen, i.e. the "Retro Liga" project. It is an unic project on a global scale. The aim of the association is to organize football games based on pre-war (until 1939) regulations, costumes, boots, and the atmosphere accompanying football matches until the outbreak of World War II. 'Retro Liga' is also involved in researching the history of other sports disciplines developing up to and including 1939, sports museums, the history of local communities, as well as caring for memorial sites.

The association is non-profit, autonomous, and brings together other associations (which are 'Retro Liga' clubs). We are involved in a number of projects aimed at preserving history. For this purpose, we have established a historical commission that records the expanding retro-collections that we use to create exhibitions but also reconstructions, e.g. the 'Retro Liga' team takes part in athletics competitions in costumes and shoes reproduced on the preserved archival plans from the era.

The "Retro Liga" Association is gradually expanding the contact network and strives to create international structures represented by fans of the oldest football clubs. That is why we have decided to write to you! Certainly, among Wolverhampton Wanderers Football Club fans, there are many history enthusiasts, including pre-war football, who would like to be honored and be able to represent The Wanderers in a retro match against their beloved club, like John Brodie used to be.

The "Retro Liga" Association would be willing to bear the costs of organizing the friendly match played in the spirit of retro rules in Poland. The event could be combined with a social picnic where retro costumes, sports equipment but also teams that are already participating in the project would be presented. If the guests liked the idea, we believe that a rematch in the United Kingdom would be possible. Such an event could be an introduction to the development and develop the retro project in the future.

We would like to know the opinion of The Wolves fans - what they think about this undoubtedly interesting and important initiative. Football connects but also teaches. The 'Retro Liga' Association does not play during summer holidays (except for friendly games) and long weekends. We adhere to the principle that it is time for families and loved ones. The last round of the Retro league is always played on a neutral pitch, where players with families of all affiliated teams meet. It is a great opportunity to strengthen social relations, and exchange experiences and plans for the development of the Retro League. It is also an opportunity to build positive relationships around the discipline we all love and are passionate about every day.

Why did we decide to write to the Wolves Fans? Because it's the cradle of football as we know it. A great brand and a legend, and a story of many famous people. Currently, only Polish brands that can boast of their roots dating back to 1939 take part in the competition. Jagiellonia Białystok (currently PKO Ekstraklasa) takes part in the competition under the name of "WKS 42 Infantry Regiment Białystok" (military traditions). Zagłębie Sosnowiec (ex-PKO Ekstraklasa) is represented by the "Victoria Sosnowiec Sports Society" (progenitor). Pogoń Lwów (one of the oldest club established in Poland) plays its matches as "LKS Pogoń Lwów - Retro Liga Żarów".

Teams founded after World War II will never play in the Retro League. This is the main condition and, at the same time, an elite distinguishing feature that connects the past with the present.

The "Retro Liga" Association members can count on support in the field of help in recreating costumes from the era as well as boots, balls, and pads in accordance with pre-war instructions and plans. It is very important because around the Retro project we are building the atmosphere of the pre-war football holiday, including the participation of an orchestra.

We are open to contact and answering all questions and doubts. If you are interested in the project, we invite you to a video meeting by means of remote communication, eg Microsoft Teams or Google Meet.

Kind Regards,

Crikey! That is some project. Wonder if anyone here is brave enough to go play with old leather balls and steel toe cap boots?

Great fun and interesting football experience. The best part is playing in retro boots. Leather boots show how football has changed over the years!
