I’ve tried reading up on NFTs several times but I don’t get it. Paying for something intangible.

Like a signed photo on a computer. Could I not just screenshot it and then i have it twice?

The answer is probably in Alan’s link but I’m not that keen. I’ll just ignore them again until it pops up in my life again, only to not understand and continue to ignore
I sat through a presentation about them a few weeks ago. When it comes to 'clothing' the guiding principle is that demand exceeds supply, so what you offer gains in value. Others are based on opportunities to win things you can't buy, a bit like a raffle ticket.

I kind of understand it, but don't really get it

It's a casino, plain and simple. You buy in not because the thing has value, but because you hope it will have more value in the future. It's a market based entirely on speculation.

See the US Housing Crisis of 2008 for details on how speculative markets tend to work out.

Ajax banning signs asking for players shirts. Bravo.
There was one in Portugal that just read “Coady give me your shirt”

Straight to the point, no bullshit.

Kids these days. Won't even put "please" on a sign.

Hang on, I can buy digital clothes now can I?

Wtf is this nonsense

I mean at least if you are buying cards on FIFA you can use them in the game.

Buying digital t shirts which you can’t use in any way other than potentially as your avatar. In the hope that someone more stupid than you pays you money for it I’m future? Less useful than a Star Wars tazos or Pokemon cards!

That reminds me. I did collect all the star wars tazos. Wonder where I put them?

He played quite a bit at Norwich didn't he? Can't say I've seen much of him but not witnessed anything to say I'd have played him above any of Kante, Jorginho or Kovacic.

Maybe he's just not Chelsea standard, no shame in that, rather than been messed about?

In and out. I think the point is a year ago they thought he could be. Not sure where his career goes from here, probably whichever one of the Glasgow clubs he prefers

He's clearly talented, but when you're a supposedly playmaking sitting midfielder who can't really defend, you need to be exceptional, or surrounded by players who can actually defend. He's not exceptional and Grant Hanley and Ben Gibson aren't Nesta and Costacurta, unfortunately.

Suppose the alternatives were staying at Chelsea another year, playing even less and still not knowing if he'd be good enough, or going on loan lower down, he might have played more and performed better but ultimately wouldn't have taught Chelsea anything useful for them.

Either probably would've bought him another year as a Chelsea player, albeit on loan somewhere else in all likelihood, but I don't see that they would've made much difference to his career long term.
