thanks for the confirmation alan, was gonna say not sure if I missed it somehow but still haven't seen a replay so no idea what happened yet. certainly looks like he was unconscious for a time after the contact though, hard to tel if he's been moving now but certainly not being overly active if awake

That could be a fractured skull. Easily.

This could be really, really serious. Fuck this game, I’m scared for him here.
Keeping my fingers crossed that it's just an abundance of caution from the staff, but yeah, this is proper lose your breath stuff.

Fuck I hope he is okay.

The ball had gone six yards by the time luiz hit Raul, that should be a red card

I looked back on my Sky box at the challenge, and don't think it was anything but a 'football incident'. Obviously no close-up or different angles, but it seems like it was two players going for the ball and split second contact on the ball and a clash of heads.

They haven't shown a replay here which I assume means that the footage is really nasty.
Wish these commentators would stop chatting shit. Nuno is certainly not thinking about next week’s fixtures right now.

Like I said earlier, the collision had a certain crunch to it that made me think something had gone wrong with the mic.

That Luiz is pretty okay makes me doubly worried for Raul.

Couldn't give a toss about the game now - a horrendous day of watching sport.

Not sure that this match matters that much now - that was sickening.

Thoughts with Raul & his family and seriously hope he recovers

Fuck I feel sick. I don't think I saw him move a muscle on the floor, granted not that that we could see much. It's properly worrying for his health

Such a shame because we had started the match really well. Those crying for a red card haven’t played the game. You go up for a header and that can happen any time. I don’t think Luiz was particularly “out of control”, he was just attacking the cross.

Feel a bit numb, now. Sending all my positive thoughts to Raul. Fully expecting us to take a while to settle after that, understandably. Hopefully Nuno can get them in at half time level and perform the rally cry where we “do it for Raul”.

Can’t imagine rauls wife watching that, she must be going out of her mind. Hope he’s conscious by now.

Disagree with that - you hit someone that hard, after they’ve already played the ball, it has to be a red card.

No thumbs up from him as he went off, but maybe that's just an American sport thing to do.

You and I saw it differently then. I rewound and watched again. Luis arrived late and was extremely reckless. If that isn’t a fractured skull I’ll be amazed.
fuck Luis

Also, Luiz should almost certainly not be allowed to play after a head to head collision like that. Just my opinion.

He was completely out of control. Totally reckless.
