Summer 2021 transfer window

We have a year's option on Saiss, we will 100% take it.

He is 31 though next month and Boly is 30 already so we need to start evolving there (Max Kilman is not any kind of answer)

Ah, wasn't aware of the one year option! Even if we didn't take it up, he'd walk into a lower Prem/newly promoted side.

As for Jose: I'm in two minds. On one hand I'm not sure we are entirely playing to his strengths currently - he clearly isn't a very mobile striker. But then I'm not sure I'd want to sign him and limit Silva's development in the squad. He has started coming on and making a difference in games, I don't think a loan is the answer with him.

I really hope it’s finally a progressive RCB and we can move Boly back where he belongs.

Jose played well yesterday, probably his best performace for us.
Silva also looked eeally good when he came on.

Whilst I do not want to stifle silva's development, we cannot afford an injury to Raul and be left with just Silva.

We also want to move forward and challenge on 3 fronts league, and 2 cups.

I would sign him start with either him or Raul, and depending on Circumstances decide in who comes on as a Sub.

If he was closer to £10m yes, but not at £22m.

I'm also working on the assumption Silva will come a long way over the next 6 months, which I think he will.

I haven't written Jose off, just not sure he is worth the £22m yet.

I suppose some of those funds can be raised by selling Cutrone, but still...

If we don’t want Jose we will just need to find someone else and Chuck a £5m loan fee at them.

Aleksander Buksa does seem odds on to join us too. Young but that's 3 options going into next year. I'd not focus on another striker, BUT an attacking forward in the Jota sense who is able to play there if needed

What does it matter what WJ costs?
The important question is, does he add value to the squad?

We cannot return to the situation where Fabio is the only backup option, and we are not sure yet that Raul will recover, or, if he does recover, when that is likely to be.

When the season is over, we can make a decision whether to keep WJ or not depending on the situation then, but until that time we have no other choice.

I mean there is a third option... Send WJ back and sign another striker?!

It's not Fabio or WJ!

Last night was his best game and he was no better than Fabio has played in other games. So far WJ hasn't shown anything like the quality we need AND he isn't a young player that's going to develop.

Fabio is our player - Jose is on loan at the moment.

Not seen enough yet to want to spend £22m at the end of the loan - there will be other options to spend that amount in the summer to bridge the gap between Raul (who will hopefully come back) & Fabio.

Really not a question we need to answer till we have to at that time

Buksa only looks ok in the vids, though I guess at £2m or less it's a no brainer for someone who is decently rated and only 17.

If we’re getting a new defender and cm (as seems to be the general requirement), and can keep Saiss for another year as cover, would you keep Donk as a squad option too, or cash in?

That’s a massive assumption. We do not want to be left with Silva again as our only option.

This x 1000.

As Glasgowolf says, if we're not content with being Crystal Palace in gold and want to start challenging then we need a better plan B for having no Raul than a player who may take a year or more before coming good

If we get a decent offer (probably from somewhere in Europe rather than the PL) then would look to take it - he's competant on the whole & has some capability to cover gaps elsewhere without being ideal, but is not going to give us what we need which is a midfielder who can break forward & score at least 6 or 7 a season.

If, by the end of the season, Silva looks "alright" would folk still want another striker in?

We can get another player or two for those £22m imo, there are bargains in most places in europe and with Covid prices are lower..regarding Donck, good, versatile squad player to have and still only 25 so i would keep him another year at least
