As has been said ad nauseum, its not so much about the shape as the intent so would be happy with DW's team, however if its Nuno's plan to go 4 at the back

........................... ......Rui
Semedo.........Boly.............Coady..........Jonny or if he's not fit, RAN
........ ...... ..Neves...........Vitinha
..............................MGW
...............Neto.......Silva/Jose...........Traore

New broom from now, may as well try 4-2-3-1

------------------Rui---------------------

Semedo----Boly----Coady----Ait-Nouri

---------Neves-------Vitinha------------

Neto------------MGW--------------Traore

-----------------Jose-----------------------

Although I think our players would be better with

------------------Rui---------------------

Semedo----Boly----Coady----Ait-Nouri

-----------------Donk-------------------

----------Neves-------Vitinha--------------

----Neto------------------------Traore---

-----------------Jose-----------------------

But Nuno has never played the latter so that's just my pipe dream.

I admire your faith in Willian Joke and all that but what exactly are you expecting him to do, and what is the point given we are never in a million years spending £22m on him?

Combined 11 in a 4231
-----------------Patricio--------
Semedo---Konsa---Boly--Jonny
------------McGinn----Neves-----
------Neto----Grealish---- A Traore
---------------Watkins-----------

Man for man we are a better team than them. For christs sake Nuno let the players show it

Neves is either a DM in a 433 or one of the two in a 4231 (preferably the latter for us - but for City he'd be a DM for example) for me. He is such a good ball winner, as well as his passing from deeper. Even when he gets forward, his passing is still better from an angle to play balls behind full backs.

If Willy is fit and can play 90 I'd go:

Rui

Semedo Boly Coady Jonny

Neves Moutinho

Traore Gibbs-White/Vitinha Neto

Jose

Unless Podence is fit though, I think Nuno will go:

Rui

Boly Coady Saiss

Semedo Neves Moutinho Jonny

Neto Jose Traore

Luiz is better than McGinn for them (IMO) :D

Not fussed what we do. Just ticks off 1 more game closer to the end.

This season has been shit for everyone and right now we need a break from it and so do the players/management. Said when watching a few teams recently, a lot of players are physically and mentally shot and we are firmly in that group. Just hope when this season is done our players/staff are allowed to leave the UK and go home for a bit. The full time whistle v Man Utd can't come quick enough for me.

Yeah, just reading on that, I thought him and Barkley were injured but both dropped. Apparently he might start against Sheffield United. Regardless, think he's a better footballer than McGinn - although he is criminally slow

Apparently Grealish could be back for this one. Cash still out though so get Adama/Neto running at Elmohamady and we could have some joy down that side.

Well they beat Leeds without Cash, Grealish, Luiz, Barkley who I’d have in their best 10 players (Smith clearly disagrees though). Think that speaks volumes of the two teams seasons/ transfer windows that they have gone from a hopeless outfit last year to a top half team that can manage injuries and squad rotate yet still pick up results.

You can bet Grealish is back for this.

4 at the back, give RAN, Fabio and Vitinha 45 mins.

Don't agree with 'don't care about this, let's get it over'. We wouldn't be saying that if we were in 8th. Still a team of highly paid pro's, the results and placements still stand, like any other season.

I agree it's not much fun, but only Nuno and the players can change that

They've benefitted from being one of the teams with an actual pre-season, let's also remember how lucky they actually were to stay up last season. Circumstances have helped and they've taken advantage of that this season, as well as grealish being ridiculously good for most of this season so far.

Your second and third sentence don't really work alongside each other?!

How is wanting to see three of our (potentially) expensive young signings not caring about the game? I want to win, and we don't need 90 mins of Jonny (mainly to manage his workload) , Mout and Jose to do that

Not looking forward to this then again I can’t remember the last time I did.
Fact is simple Villa are in a better place than us right now and have developed a knack of picking up undeserved points.
Take a point and just move a step closer to the end of the season.

Not too bothered about whether it’s 4 or 5 atb. It’s the mindset within it that matters.

Chelsea played 5, United played 4. Was still only 1 team who tried to win that game.

It suggests to be more about experimenting than actually trying to win the game. Jonny and Moutinho we definitely need on the pitch to win at the moment.

Nuno has already spoken about too many of the youngsters having to play at once during this season, in the past week. Vitinha is the only one who hasn't really had significant minutes, I don't think there's a huge pressure to play them all in one of the few remaining games that most fans (imo) will desperately want us to win.

I don't consider it 'experimenting' to play the only striker we own for 45 mins. RAN and Vitinha have hardly had any minutes lately and Jonny's comeback needs managing IMO.

The idea that Jose and Mout are some kind of indispensable matchwinners who have to play 90 mins each is a more dubious assertion than anything I've suggested
