The " Honey I'm home and I'm bloody starving , what's for dinner " Thread.

Made a massive chilli a few nights back. Three of us ate two meals each and I've just taken 5 more portions over to the freezer. I might have a chilli shelf, seems like a bucket list sort of thing.

Is this you in action?

Got the Pasta machine out tonight (hoping it doesn't put Rui in a bad mood...)

Attempted Ravioli with a creamy scallop filling and a white wine sauce. Quite impressed for a first effort on the Rav and the taste a triumph

I made ramen.

tried making the noodles by hand but didn't realize that we had a *pasta roller*, but not a *pasta cutter*. So I tried cutting by hand and nothing really worked out so I used the boxed stuff.

That looks amazing.. when do we eat?

Trying a new dish I have never cooked before. Pepper crusted venison steak with braised fennel and parsley mash with a red wine jus. I hope it works as it sounds fucking great on paper.

Post match. Start cooking after the game finishes. Doing a bit of prep now just to make sure things go smoothly.

Vennison is really nice, sounds a good recipe , look i wont have any wine but can i come round for a plateful ?;)

I am a fairly decent cook but I am a bit nervous about the fennel. Quite a strong taste but it should go with venison as juniper berries are similar and are considered a marriage with venison like tarragon is with chicken.

Fennell, I find , very similar to using truffle oil, the tipping point for 'too much' is quite precise

We had a free meal for 2 from Malabar in Penn last night as my wife won their Facebook competition.

Hadn’t eaten from there since we moved away from Penn but it was still as tasty as I remembered, and even better when it’s free 😀

As the weather is very Winterish I have prepared a brisket of beef for the slow cooker tonight.

Nothing fancy (except loads of garlic and herbs) but should be delicious tomorrow. I reckon one portion for tomorrow and five for the freezer!

Awesome steak tonight. Never made chimichurri before but it is outrageous. Completely epic. Move over Bearnaise. I have a new favourite.

The chimichurri olives from Aldi are the bomb.

I just looked up what it tastes like and it said a bit like grass but tangier.

Sounds great....

Too much flavour for you Bear I wouldn't worry.

I love flavour as long as its not overpowering.

Does it really taste like grass though?

I was being slightly facetious...

Not at all, tastes of the combination of herbs that go into it. None of them are particularly "grassy"
