What you planning Tredders?
Was planning to ride to Wales - anywhere really. It’s doable there and back in a day easy enough, but thought might be good to stay over if I can.

Train it to Porthmadog then ride to Machynlleth either via Tywyn or Dolgellau
To Tywyn you've got Harlech castle, Barmouth wooden bridge over the estuary, then gorgeous views along the coast road.
Dolgellau nice ride along the estuary, you've got an abandoned nuclear power station, and the Mach loop where you stand a chance of watching fast jets below you
Train it back from Mach

Fancy walking this once I get a chance to get over that way. http://www.mawddachtrail.co.uk/mawddach-trail.html

Sounds cool. Have you looked into staying in a Bothy if you cant be bothered with lumping a tent with you.

I'd do it for free for you, but I'm not qualified to do so. It's not a very complicated document but no formal certification, no deal.

Advice time...
If I learn how to use Instagram better than I do now, will it be just as effective at getting my name out and my unique products as building a website and paying around €350 - €400 a year to get it up and running?
You see, I'm in a interesting position in that I don't want to be really successful, I want to be moderately successful and just make a few bob out of my hobby. I'm not after developing my Brand. I'm not after growing my business, I don't want the pressure of having tons of orders waiting... It's a hobby.
Can anyone tell me the disadvantages of doing it all on Instagram?

I'm in a similar position, but not sure I can be of much help. I am going with website plus Facebook, based mostly on the fact that those are what most other people use, plus a website is the most convenient way for me to sell. I'm doing the website myself, so I'm not planning on spending that much. I don't use Instagram, so hadn't considered it.

I'm also using a word of mouth approach, so if anyone needs a sports photographer in the Cambridgeshire area, just let me know.

Etsy might be a better option for that kind of thing Roy.

Yeah, I've bought quite a bit off there.

Not quite advice but more of a query...
(Can't find the General Query thread)
Does anyone on here do metalwork or welding?
I'm making a Pergola and am looking for a 4" steel plate with a 3" metal bar welded to the centre of it.
This will be bolted to the concrete floor and the bar will sit in a 2" hole drilled into the 4"x4" post. Thereby holding the post 1" above the floor.
If anyone does this stuff I'll need 4 of them.

Cant you use something like this

I know its reverse to what you're thinking but theses are available at any descent builders merchants

Yes, I've seen those Paul but I really want to avoid fitting something that can hold moisture against the wood or preferably can't be seen.

Could just use length of threaded bar through a suitable size plate, give yourself enough excess above to hold the post off the ground and cast the overrun into the concrete below?

Not too hot on the teccy stuff myself but you might be able to make some sense of this:

So the three uprights we have sit fixed onto a little concrete based hidden slab more or less the same size as the post giving the impression the post is fixed into the soil. Any fixings are hidden by the decorative coverings making it quite a neat little job. Doing it that way allows you to have a border around the base too which gives you the chance to plant creepers if you wanted which should look really nice when they go up and over and cover the whole thing. That’s the plan anyway which hopefully makes some sort of sense and helps.

We had ours done in the spring and then someone goes and gets a job 2 hours away… I hope you get to enjoy yours a bit longer!

interviewing for a job shortly via Teams. Perfectly confident that I've got the knowledge for the role just the Teams aspect never done an online interview and now it's only a few hours away bricking it a bit. Any pointers? Wish me luck.

I haven't done an interview but have done a presentation on Teams... the good thing about it is you can have Word open on the screen (or another screen) with prompts etc...
