Wolves 1-0 West Ham: Verdict Thread

Who said football is a funny old game?
After a shitshow last time out and West Ham in the form of their lives it surely has to be a comfy away win?
Probably the game I've enjoyed most this season, even Everton.
First 15-20 Hammers had a lot of ball but apart one header wide created nothing, after that rill just after we scored we completely dominated them, should have scored a couple.
We did come under pressure last 20 but not many panics.
Sa did everything asked of him, don't think he made a save all game, the ball for Rauls first half chance was sublime.
Think RAN improves every game, apart from of a couple of poor crosses thought he was terrific, going forward and in defence...seemed to cut infield a lot today which worked well.
Semedo was superb defensively and along with Kilman kept Antonio out of the game...wish he was more self confident at the other end.
Midfield was brilliant, Soucek and Rice did nothing.
First 15 minutes Podence was appalling but gradually came into it and was good.
Raul, what a player....Hwang worked hard.
No-one was less than 7/10 imo....me and the boys were bubbling in the car on the way home.

Paddy was like Bart Simpson on his 5th Squishy after the game. Very level headed performance today, attacked really well at times and when needed we defended superbly.

Neves was magnificent...

RAN made 4 key passes according to the stats, the most on our team

Perfectly average. Totally serviceable. 5/10.

5 isn't a bad score. This ain't school, 50% ain't an F. 😅

If y'all feel that's harsh, fair enough. Just my opinion ay.
Worse than harsh Alan, I think you're just plain wrong. A couple of crosses early on which hit the first man and a ropey pass out of defence late on when he was knackered.
His corners were excellent, I think he's the best at that in the team.
I was nervous about him defensively but don't think he put a foot wrong, which is impressive against such a strong, physical side.
3 or 4 times he drove inside across the pitch and really opened them up

Just watched Rauls goal on you tube. Fucking amazing, if Salah or Kane had scored one like that the bellend commentators would never shut up about it. But hey i dont care, we won and i will sleep well tonight, ZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZ.

Easily Bruno’s finest hour so far and our most accomplished performance of the season
We thoroughly deserved this win and it could have been far more comfortable with a bit more composure.
Kilman is the stand out star for me this season, a proper CH who can play, and future England call up must not be far away. Just about pips Neves and Raul for MOM.
No doubt we will have downs as well as ups this season, but today it’s our day and I’m gonna milk it.

Like times a million. I’m off to lurk on there. I can’t resist. What a bloody superb day it is when Wolves win.
Just had a look and in fairness they are taking it well, lost to a better team on the day (and have us down as a good side) and no complaints seems to be the assessment .

On the sitting back thing, I'm pretty sure it's not a conscious decision, seems to me when the opposition puts more effort in (especially when they've nothing to lose) we get driven back and lose a bit of composure. I also don't think it's Bruno asking them to do it. At one stage late on, Semedo was over on the touchline and rather than play an easy ball forward, tried to turn back for a safe backwards pass and lost it....Lage completely lost his shit.

Whilst I’m not disagreeing with the Neves love-in I think Moutinho also deserves a lot of credit. Now he’s back to playing one game a week he’s playing like the Duracell bunny again. His reading of the game is awesome, never known a player be in the right place so often and he knows when to press and when to drop back. Blokes in their late 50s shouldn’t be in awe of a bloke kicking a ball about but I absolutely love him.

The Neves /Moutinho pairing is better than at any time in the last two years, Kilman was superb (again) and Raul is nearly back to his best. Thoroughly deserved win, 1 to 11, probably the most convincing we’ve been tactically this season.

Neves though was different class today. Did everything [including the booking, which I’m sure Saiss will pay] right except hitting the target with his thunderbolt in the second half.

Yeah I remember the Semedo incident and thought the same thing, Bruno was pointing to play the ball down the line and went fucking mental when it went tits up
It seems when we are ahead we seem to be more intent on recycle the ball for the sake of it rather then looking to play it into dangerous areas.

Yep Moutinho was excellent, as he has been most of the season. Neves is pretty much excellent most games....he doesn't have to score a worldie or hit loads of Hollywood passes to have had a good game.

On the RAN point, he just needs to have the confidence to take his man on more. Can play it a little too safe.

On a broader point, the best all round performance of the season.
I don't know how I feel about the way Bruno tries to close out games. I might be just getting windy in my old age, but I was on edge towards the end as I was against Everton and Newcastle, but having said that Sa didn't have a save to make, so I guess it's just me?

Yeah West Ham fans always seemed pretty fair to me, of the handful I’ve known. Loud and all, but happy to say when they’ve taken a beating by a better team. There’s plenty other fan bases won’t do that

Nice to see a fair few compliments for the way Lage has us organised too.

Always thought that about RAN (also Semedo) but imo he is getting better all the time. As I said earlier his defensive work is like night and day now compared to when he arrived.
He will of course make mistakes and have poor games because of his age, but I'm feeling more confident in him all the time.

David Sullivan paid £100,000 to get Antonio flown back from Jamaica by private jet during the week. Wonder if he can get his money back.

Lost count of how many times I've read exactly this sentence on this forum and yet he's still so underrated. One of the players of the season so far for me, absolutely quality.
I mean we saw this last season when the final few games he was averaging over 85 touches a game from wingback and people were still saying they didn't see what he offered!

I agree. I don’t see why he get so much flack. Just thought today he was very, very good
