Wolves 0-1 Liverpool: Verdict Thread

Yeah no chance we were getting Curtis Jones, he's class.

Williams I don't really rate either.
Never know until you ask, they rated Hoever highly. Williams is a better player than Hoever right now.

It’s a free shot from 6 yards out. They go in every single time once it’s beat the defender, unless it just hits the keepers foot. He’s tried to pre empt the shot/pass, no different to when a keeper guesses on a 1v1, and we don’t blame them then. I honestly don’t think if he doesn’t take that step it would make a difference. It MAY have hit his foot but I doubt. Just as likely go through his legs.

At the end of the day if Hoever passes to Raul then it doesn’t happen. He’s then too casual with the ball over the top, I presume showing him down the line, but it’s too much and is an open invitation and he takes it.
Agree there. He just stood still for the shot which bounced back off Raul and on to Thiago and then on to Sa's standing foot which he kept out. So if you're going to criticise one, you should praise the other. There was also a definite shove from Jota in to the back of Saiss which caused the collision between him & Sa when Jota went clean through. Seems a bit ridiculous to send a highlights video in an attempt to be critical of Sa when in those very same highlights there's at least 4 very good saves from the same player.

That's the epitome of an agenda.

And Neco Williams is dire. Doesn't say much about Ki-Jana unfortunately.

I think it's pointless forensically examining every goal we concede (although I expect the coaches to) in every goal scored you'll find a 'mistake' by one or more defenders otherwise we'd never get any goals. The worst in this case is Hoever, no doubt the team are going through this, but no point in hanging him out to dry.

Or maybe it's just fair to say he made some good saves (not 4) and wasn't great on the goal, and it's fine to point that out on a verdict thread and not play Internet politics for the billionth time.

It is the narrative that gets made out more often than not, though.

I'm guilty of it, too, no doubt.

Narrative?

That's a very short sentence not a narrative. And flat out wrong.

The word narrative is ridiculously overused.

This isn't particularly aimed at you Alan as I hear it more and more, particularly on the news, which should be anything but a narrative.

If Hoever, who was fresh as a daisy had got back quicker (we were under the cosh but he still hardly bust a gut) he could have been closer to Salah. Salahs touch was class but under no pressure its easier.

I still contend taking Adama off and conceding even more ground stopped us picking up a valuable if undeserved point.

Oh don’t get me wrong, that’s absolutely fine. But that’s not what you’re doing & your criticism (and name calling) of Sa is completely OTT.

Thankfully you’re very much in a minority on this one.

In other news, I see Hoever has taken to his social media accounts to apologise to the fans and his teammates for a “lesson learned” at the weekend. Takes guts to do that (but you still cost us a point, Ki).

We were knackered at the end, hard to blame defenders who have had to fight that onslaught off for the majority in the match. physically and mentally tired for cracking in the end.

I do agree, i think the usage should be rhetoric rather than narrative?

They could, but you'd need incredible powers of foresight to prevent every goal. Not every goal is the result of mistake
Thats what I was trying to say (not very well), but mistakes happen, as Stuardo said above, it was the end of a really tight game, the boys were physically and mentally fucked, just seems a bit ott to try and apportion tiny bits of blame to Sa, Coady, Saiss and every other player in the vicinity

I've not seen it said before but whatever.
Imo it is true, the defending side and individuals could always do more.
You've obviously never seen Beckham's hit from the half way line or Tony Yeboah's hit that nobody on the planet could save.

KJH had been on a whole 60 seconds

I mean, the surgeon could have fixed Jonny's knee properly which meant KJH never came on, surely he has to accept some responsibility here too?
