Man Utd 0-1 Wolves: Verdict and Vic burnt his backside thread.

We did well to make sure Mike Dean didn't get a sniff too
Ironically felt he reffed it fairly well for a change, played advantage abs brought it back a couple of times for us as well.

Only recall the goal kick when shaw clears it from Rauls foot, and the dubious 5 minutes added on as a bug bear. But I guess there was 6 subs used, so that’s 3 minutes straight away?

This has been a good evening

Right that either Moutinho or Neves scored (1 did & the other would have done if not for de Gea) as they controlled that game completely.

Sa did the one thing he needed to & good performances from the others - Silva has improved - it's how we get him minutes on the pitch to go further. Traore - no real magic, but changed the dynamic of the game & came on with enough time to have an effect (so well done to Bruno).

Only City have conceeded less goals than us - if we could score then we would be top 4.

Overall good performance and deserved win (just). Thought everyone played well apart from Raul and Trincao to a lesser extent. I actually thought Raul had started to get it together a bit from the 10 minutes before he was subbed...right call though, Fabio was excellent, probably deserves to start in the cup.
People keep saying Utd were rubbish, but surely it was more down to our performance?

I legitimately lost count of the number of times I saw United players shouting at each other that they weren't positioned correctly. They looked clueless at times, especially in the first half.

They were bad, make no mistake.

Silva definitely seems to put himself about more than he did a year ago

We are a disciplined organised well drilled team. Imagine what it would be like if we scored more!

That was such a great performance. We absolutely bossed it in the first half - it was a match of peers, rather than a plucky, backs to the wall performance. Excellent and intelligent in possession, and working ourselves into some really promising situations. Raul has got to mix things up though, the amount of times he fakes a run and pulls back to edge of the box is getting silly now, he needs to start attacking the six yard box more.

Early in the second half, I'll be honest I thought we'd fucked it - their change had worked, we were struggling to get out, and a handful of let-offs in 5 minutes, but we kept at it, and full value for the win. Game management was excellent, barring Marcal overlapping in the 93rd minute and of course Fabio's understandably desperate high boot. That their three best players were Jones, Shaw and Varane says a lot.

Sa - he was great. Couple of good claims and a good save at the end.

Back three - the moment Kilman dispossessed Ronaldo and shoved him to the ground has *got* to be a gif. They were all excellent, plenty of tackles and interceptions, rarely spaces between them, all good passers. They just work brilliantly.

Semedo - I've ripped into him plenty, but it was his best game for me. Almost faultless defensively, and made the right decisions on the ball. Cut inside a lot more too, which they couldn't deal with.

Marcal was OK, but just lacks quality on the ball too often

Joao was absolutely immense, goal aside. Purring on the ball, and buzzing off if it. Ruben similarly, just a beautifully polished performance by the two.

Podence had a very good game - wonderful movement and some great touches. Shame about the other two, who were frankly fucking shit.

Stylistically that's how I want us to look, it was about perfect. Neto and RAN will make a huge difference to how clinical we are, and the quality of chances we can create. Raul is a problem we can talk about on another day.

Fucking magic win, that.

Silva definitely seems to put himself about more than he did a year ago
From the little time he was on he also looks a bit more solid and less likely to get blown over with a strong breeze.

The holdup leading to the goal would have been expected from Raul, but not him last season - just maybe he is growing into what we paid for

You mean the rubbish cross that was headed to Moutinho to score? Goal was more created by Fabio.

Edit. Only kidding about Traore, he made a difference

Not so much the cross being rubbish it wasn't in a bad area but we just don't really attack them and , if Jones actually heads it properly there's no danger at all. Fortunately he didn't and Joao did the rest.

Thought we were very good all over, Raul not up to it and Trincao flitted on the periphery but again not doing enough and bringing on Traore allowed us to stretch the pitch as their back 4 was getting higher and higher.

Fabio looks a different player, showed really good strength back to goal and laying off even span off a couple of times and showed a bit of pace.

Yep as weird as it is to even type Fabio outplayed Raul. Which, and I don't mean this as a knock against Fabio, is a concern.

Neves, Semedo, Podence and the back 3 were all excellent. Still got real issues up front, obviously, but this wasn't a backs to the wall effort like Liverpool or City, they earned that (I would imagine the break has helped, they looked pretty fresh)
Fabio is total quality - so not a concern.

Rubbish cross or not - Trincao was never going to cross anything to anyone.

Crossed a few tonight that were headed clear so about the same really. He wouldn't have got onto the pass from Neves though, but I doubt anyone else in our squad would.
