MC Adam Yauch of The Beastie Boys dead at only 47. Very sad. Behind some very great tracks like this:

Edit: typo in the thread title, could a mod edit it please. It should say Yauch not Rauch.

Typo - Yauch??

Really sad news, I thought he had got the better of cancer - this comes as a total surprise.

Fuck, that's awful news. I was listening to Ill Communication the other day. Great album, great band, huge shame.

We'll just have to get Fight for the Right to Party out. I can guarantee that micro will like the guitar solo. He seems to be VERY heavily into Kerry King for some reason.

I've got that on my i-pod. First song to mention the artist within the song.

Absolutely gutted to hear this....really really gutted. I loved the Boys since I saw the Sabotage video in 1994. Was lucky enough to see them live in 2007, a great gig, I stood next to Jarvis Cocker in the crowd. MCA was the real spiritual Beastie, it was him who went to visit the Dalai Lama and recorded all the mellower BB stuff like Shambala and Boddishatva Vow. When my old band played in New York in 2006, I got talking to the doorman at our hotel and he told me how he used to write graffitti around Brooklyn with MCA when they were kids.

Was it definitely cancer yeah???? Absolutely gutted by this, 47 is no age. RIP MCA

Truely gutted by this, been a constant in my life since I first saw them in '86...my first ever gig and a huge influence on my music since.

RIP Adam, thanks for the some of the best hip hop I've had the pleasure of...

RIP Mr Yauch. Most of their stuff carries a lot of worth. Not quite Public Enemy or NWA but I like the Beastie Boys.

Radio 1 just did an hour tribute, which was pretty good.
