All time World 11

Butch played down here for QPR in 1996. 40 years old and still the best player on the park by a mile.

I also saw Stapleton get a hat-trick against us for Blackburn, 1991ish, before Jack Walker was involved anyway.

Just watched that video and had definitely forgotten Osborn's goal. Can't remember him scoring or indeed taking too many others like that

Got two crackers at Bramall Lane, one in 1997 and one in 1999.

The video actually makes Corica look quite good...

My first wolves game

My trips to Sheff United were always quite hazy. Got a good kicking in the Deane and Agana days and was probably on my fourth or fifth visit before I realised that there was an upper tier on the away end. It looks/feels very different with seats in to the old terrace. Same with Filbert Street and only realised there when they moved us round the corner.

Here we go, then...

Manuel Neuer
Maicon - Thiago Silva - Carles Puyol - David Alaba
Yaya Toure - Xabi Alonso - Luka Modric
Lionel Messi - Francesco Totti - Cristiano Ronaldo

Cafu, Jorginho and Dani Alves were all better than him by some way and that's if we're just considering Brazilian right backs. Bale ruined Maicon before he was even 30.

Never got to see Cafu or Jorginho.

Bale embarrassed plenty of defenders, not just Maicon. We're still talking about a man who displaced Javier Zanetti at RB.

Maicon was fucking amazing for a good few years. He was absolutely unplayable for Mourinho's Inter and was definitely the best Right Back in the world for a period but it was way too fleeting to put him ahead of guys like Alves, Lahm, Zambrotta or Zanetti who you must have seen play if you're including Francesco Totti.

Best XI for me

Buffon

Lahm van Dijk Puyol Maldini

Pirlo Busquets

Zidane

Messi R9 CR7

'Favourite' XI which is another thing entirely

Patrício

Zanetti Cannavaro Puyol Lizarazu

Pirlo

Moutinho Nedved

Totti

Batistuta Larsson

Bit of a stretch fitting Totti and Nedved into that midfield diamond but it would be so much fun to watch and all those players meant so much to me for varying reasons.

Tbf they just moved Zanetti into midfield. Wasn't like they binned him off because Maicon was necessarily better (he wasn't :D )

Zanetti had 18 seasons at Inter. In only three of them did he play fewer than 30 league games. One he played 29 and one was his last season when he was 40 years old. Legend is an overused term, that man is a fucking legend.

By the way, if we ever do a "worst managerial decisions" thread, José Pekerman can have two from the 2006 World Cup:

1) Taking Riquelme off against Germany in the quarter final when they were 1-0 up
2) Not taking Zanetti at all and having Lionel Scaloni (!) as his RB

I'll never forget Zanetti getting as close to marking Messi out of a game as you can possibly get over 2 legs in the Champions League semi finals. He must have been about 38 at the time.

Worst managerial decision ever is on Alf Ramsey. Estadio Leon 14th June 1970.

Bobby Charlton off at 70 minutes for Colin Bell.

Martin Peters off at 81 minutes for Norman Hunter.

2-0 up at the first sub. 2-1 up at the second sub.

When I think of Zanetti it's as that midfielder. If anything I was expecting Toure's inclusion to be the one called out.

Totti I included because I love him. :icon_lol:

My very first thought when I read "worst managerial decisions".
