Outlawing guns will not stop nutters. Outlawing guns will stop protection from authoritarian nutters like Biden.

A debate exits.
How many mass shootings have we had in the UK since we outlawed guns?

You can't legitimately be comparing a shotgun to an AR-15.

You know what I mean.

Of course I do (and I don't equate you with a certain element on here) but It's a realistic perspective nonetheless.

Full force to those that wish to defend against the authority. It's the US way. Just do more to weed out the nutters.

This guy was evidenced as a nutter way before his committed this act. Most are.

In 2022 you cant put nutters in asylums for crimes they haven't committed.

I hate to use the word nutter (because it fits in this context) but these people need help. 99% of people who own guns are not nutters.

Wide debate not possible on here. Thanks for the decent reply.

The whole point (to my understanding) of the 2nd ammendment is so that they can overthrow an unfit government. What happened when they stormed the capitol though? A few gammons taking selfies in Nancy's chair and some broken windows.

The right to bear arms isn't being used for its intention now. It's being used because they don't want their gunnywunnies taken away, while kids get shot on a weekly basis. It's bollocks mate.

You'll never rid the world of nutters, but allowing civilians to buy an assault rifle with their weekly shop is bullshit, and it encourages mass murder. It's fuck all to do with standing up to the government, and everything to do with it being an incredibly lucrative trade

There is no comparison. They can both kill numerous people. See Hungerford for details.
Dont try and engage Hungerford to push your tomfoolery. I worked with people who were there that day. And there is a reason why Hungerford resulted in semi automatics being banned, and then Dunblane resulting in tighter controls on handgun ownership full stop.

Not a lot of mass shootings here since we banned the stuff that can do it (except in properly regulated circumstances.) Ban the weapons is the right way. America will never learn.

Wide debate very difficult in the US, where people have very entrenched opinions.

Ultimately there are 3 options - continue on the current path of eliminating all restrictions, legislate to curb the excesses, or repeal the 2nd amendment and ban guns.

None of them work in the short term, and in the long run only one would. It is still political suicide to advocate for it but perhaps we will soon reach the point where a repeal will be given serious consideration.

I'm not putting money on that happening in my lifetime.

Only a ban will work.

Somebody kills a lot less people if they don't have guns. There is no debating that it's physics.

It's weird because every American I follow on Twitter, every podcast I listen to which are all NFL based are appalled and ashamed. Then there is this large rump of 'real' America who I think we in the UK only ever see on the news and documentaries

Okay. How many shots can you fire from your shotgun before you need to reload? I bet it's less than 30.
