Aston Villa (A) Build Up and Matchday Thread

I would start the same team. We were able to take both Traore and Jota off and we didn't seem to expend too much energy as a team.

If we want to match their midfield up for numbers Dendoncker could start I guess

The 3 up top. Whether we swap Jota for Neto it doesn't matter really.

Villa won't play with numbers behind the ball so we should, in theory, get a hell of lot more space than we did in the last couple of games.

Same team for me. Weather won't be an issue, it's going to be about 19 degrees.

Of all the teams we have left to play, these are the one we could genuinely take apart. They are appalling at the back. Mings will try to snap someone, the wanker.

Really can't see anything other than a win. They're shit at the back, dodgy keeper and they will come and have a go at us. I'd have been more cautious but without the crowd to lift them it's hard to see anything in their favour.

Villa back four last night was Konsa (RB) - Hause - Mings - Targett

5-3-2 for me (to start anyway)

Patricio
Doherty Boly Coady Saiss Otto
Dendonker Moutinho Neves
Jimenez Jota

Can see Villa being up for it (they've gotta be) and would like us to take control of the game first.

2nd half if we've not already gone in front wouldn't hesitate to get Traore and/or Neto on (and switch to a top 3) as well as Vinagre to really pile it on.

They have a quandary. They need to get Grealish on the ball higher up the pitch than they are, but that leaves them more open. Can see Smith going 5 at the back to try and do that. El Mohamedy will come in at wing back, Grealish as a 10
5311.

I'd set up the same as West Ham, but Jota replaced by Neto or Adama

all together now:
if mings can play for england so can i....

same starting line up/formation for me. if we get through this game with our management being what it is, I can see us not having conceded in 3, and looking optimistic for the remaining games.

targett is woeful in my view. whoever is up against him for us has the opportunity to make hay!

Targett is a coward.

If he is getting rinsed he will get "injured"

He may as well have a target on his head as well as his back if Traore is starting.

Derby games are usually a great leveller, but without a crowd it is much more difficult for Villa. Despite that (and the complete lack of confidence from their fans) I would still take a draw. They will not go down without a fight, 1-1.
