Beer

I’m off to the beer festival at the Barley Mow pub in Penn today. In a bizarre turn of events, my Dad is in a band and they are playing at the festival this afternoon so I’m going to watch them. I guess it’s me returning the favour for all the terrible gigs he watched me play when I was in my 20’s 🤣

If I wasn't taking the girls shopping I'd come and join you, I'll just have to settle for lunch in the Hogs!

That sounds a great way to spend the day, will help you get over last night's frustrations.

I’ll have to take the girls to the Hogs again to get over it.

Anyone ever had this happen before?

Came down to a lovely sticky brown puddle beneath the cupboard door and a spray all up the wall opposite. Looked inside and couldn't figure out where it had come from until I started moving stuff out the way to clean up and found that can lay down on the shelf looking like Popeye had tried to open it. Must have properly exploded for some reason, covered just about everything in the cupboard under the stairs.

Not happened to me, but seen instances of it reported online a fair few times.
Can happen if there is a lot of fruit or other sugars (not lactose) present in the beer. If its at room temperature the yeast in the beer will eat away at the sugar which produces CO2. It will build and build until....

Breweries try and wash their hands of it by saying you should store it in the fridge - not that the supermarkets take that much care.

It might be worth sending Brewdog the photo. You'll probably get a bit of web store credit.

Absolutely gutted. They’ve been my go to for years. ☹️

Ah shit. That’s awful news. Was just thinking of placing an order too.

Any thoughts on these session IPAs?

Lost me right here:

Does anyone else resent the rise and rise of IPA's?
Aldi and Lidl have a great many different brands but they are almost all IPA.
I have to wait for my once a month trip to Tesco in Banbridge to get some really good beers (Ales if you prefer).
Current favourites are McKewans Champion, Old Crafty Hen and King Goblin. Great complex beers.
Fucking IPA's!
Another thing that bothers me is a lot of Irish people think that IPA stands for Irish Pale Ale.... grrrr..
