Bellend commentators

She reminds me of an internet radio presenter filling shows because they have no one else

She isn't crap, James just needs to be controversial to be relevant.

Bit of virtue signalling going on here.

Just because James thinks she's a crap co-commentator doesn't make him misogynistic or pathetic.

If I say Jermaine Jenas is a crap co-commentator, does that me a misandrist, or pathetic, or even a racist?

I would say it's early days for her and I watched something with Gary Neville not long ago where they showed him back one of his first games (either as pundit or co-comms) and he said he was talking way too much, his voice wasn't right etc. Now he's pretty much the best there is.

She knows a lot about the game but not enough right now about broadcasting, and some of the mispronunciations aren't something you just write off, that's no good. Pretty sure 99% of football fans know that it isn't Luka Modrick.

I think it’s more to do with the comment she’s only there just to fill a gap because they can’t find anyone else. Highly disrespectful whatever you think of her style it’s clear she prepares very well for her commentary.

Doesn't make you any of those things, because he is. She did a Wolves game last season (West Ham?) and was really good, but got similar comments. Virtue signalling is looking to score points to make yourself look good, nobody on here cares what I think, it's a comment that'll be read by 50 at the most. I'm just calling out bollocks

I saw someone on Twitter say "she's too informative for my liking". I find her to be a breath of fresh air. Her pronunciation (and dodgy accent) could be occasionally annoying, but she's got a pretty rare ability to be able to provide real-time analysis in a way that not many co-commentators can (or even try) to do.

I guess it's a very small Venn diagram of people who have played the game at a professional level, know tactically what's happening, are well researched, know how to pronounce names and are willing to commentate

If you want a shite commentator then Robbie Savage fits the bill to a tee. Oh and just look at the state of him here!

She's way better than Keown, Savage, Jenas, Murphy, Hinchcliffe, Birtles, Gale etc (I dislike all of those for differing reasons) but I wouldn't say she's really good at this stage. Ally McCoist is really good.

Trevor Brooking was the best co-commentator I've ever heard. I watched a full re-run of one of the 1990 England games during the original lockdown and it was so noticeable that he only spoke when there was something to say, and it was always insightful.

I wouldn't ever mock someone's accent (Christ knows, I'm hardly 1950s BBC myself) but I don't speak the same on a work call as I do with my mates down the pub, tidy it up a bit.

I do think that for most people who commentate that has to be a certain element of not giving a shit about what people think of you, therefore, that means you dont really care how you come across
