Best holiday destinations

Ooh ta - I may well do. We haven't booked anything yet and it's just me and the GF so won't need to be child friendly or anything but I've no idea which area is best or anything like that.

For sheer stunning beauty, you could do worse than go to the North Eastern bit around Elounda and Agios Nikolaos. For a town with a bit more happening but is still nice head for Xania at the other end. The south of the island is much less developed so good if you want peace and quiet. Elaffonisos is pretty bloody lovely - https://www.google.co.uk/search?q=e...TG7AaVgYHgDw&ved=0CAcQ_AUoAQ&biw=1570&bih=879

Avoid Malia and Hersonnisos if you didn't really like the first InBetweeners movie.

Some of those places look perfect. Cheers for the info.

Cheers - I'll check them out.

Just tried to work out the furthest I've travelled in each direction;

Furthest north: St Andrews (Scotland, not the shithole in Small Heath)
Furthest south: Trinidad, Cuba
Furthest east: Rome
Furthest west: Vinales Valley, Cuba

Need to improve on these!

North - Ochilview Road, Stenhousemuir!
West - Denver, Colorado
East - Brisbane, Australia
South - Toowoomba, QLD, Australia - about 10 miles south of central Brisbane by the look of a map

I suppose this is a decent place to ask, but as well as Crete, if anyone has any recommendations for a nice 4-day long European-based holiday in late September, I'd be interested to hear them. Beach holiday, not city break and nowhere expensive - it'll just be a quick trip away on a tight budget.

I suppose we're looking for somewhere quiet (as in not a Magaluf type place - too old for that shit!) but with a small town nearby with local cuisines/markets etc, decent weather, that sort of thing.

Nerja in Malaga. My mate got married there. really romantic little old town with 2 stunning beaches with bars/restaurants on them. 1 hour from Malaga airport. Check it out.

North - Lerwick
West - Bilbao
South - Melbourne
East - Gold Coast

North - Milovaig, Isle of Skye (must go back to Scotland and expect to)
East - Either Vienna, Austria or Omis, Croatia (Croatia is bound to be a repeat destination as it's cheap and easy enough to drive to)
South - Galley Bay, Antigua (once in a lifetime that)
West - Galley Bay, Antigua

North - Vaasa, Finland

South - Cape Town, South Africa

West - Vancouver

East - Mumbai

North - Durness on the north coast of Scotland

South - Ibiza

West - the west coast of Ireland

East - Poland

As you can tell I have not travelled far and wide.

Still enjoying the thought of you living it up in Ibiza.

Blowing a whistle and waving his arms around - Just his usual Sunday morning routine done with a thumping beat in the background.

Puerto Soller in Majorca is a great place. Quiet has a scenic mountain railway up into the mountains, close to Palma too. Easy access to the mountain villages of which Valledamossa is my favourite.

I've never even made it to Scotland!

Have to say, in the UK Cornwall is unbeatable, especially in terms of coastline.
Personally I'd love to do a scandinavian trip one day, see the northern lights.

Been as far North as Stormslett in Norway to watch Wolves play. Stayed in Tromso with 24 hour daylight, oddest thing ever and messes with your head.

Love The Algarve, was there earlier this month. I stay in Vilamoura not far from Albufeira. I travel all over when there but my favourite places are Lagos, Tavira and Silves.

We're going to Carvoeiro next month and also went last year. I too love the Algarve and the Portuguese people are great.

Sounds ace, I think....

This year, I've a week in great yarmouth. Never been, that's the only reason why.

Can't afford one of these posh foreign holidays. Last time I was abroad was the petrol blockade of 2000.

You went all the way to Norway just to boo the ref...!!!

Lovely place. Forgot about it until I saw your post.
