Boris at it again and the contest to replace the lying c***

But we were told that voting for Boris, and also voting for brexit would result in higher wages and also improved standards of living for us all.
Are people suggesting this may not actually happen?

But if companies are charging more for that basket purely to drive up their profits, then they are surely responsible for that aspect of inflation?
Thank you for the other studies you have put in your original post and I've quickly read through them. From what I can see 25 companies account for 90% of the increase in company profits, most of whom are selling commodities whereby the market is driving higher prices and therefore costs for those businesses aren't rising at the same pace. The other chance is that companies are using rising prices to increase their profit margins where they don't have competition in order supress increases. That isn't sustainable as a business for any length of time.

Higher company profits per se do not lead to inflation for example a company might sell more of its products. Charging higher prices to increase profits will increase inflation and unless we have no choice (fuel, energy etc) we should vote with our wallets. I'm still of the opinion that the driver of this round of inflation is commodity led, rather than shysters profiteering on the cost of living crisis.

I think it's a combination of the two, as the studies suggest, and also borne out from the fact that wages aren't increasing at the rate anticipated from high employment, they're not passing the profits back down in the form of increasing wages, they're paying shareholders and CEOs more or simply just announcing higher profits.

That is sort of what a listed company has to do. KPIs for any CEO are increase profits and increase shareholder value. Ignore those and you won't be a CEO for very long.

If it was untrue you would think that Private Eye wouldn't go anywhere near publishing the story for fear of being sued.

His bosses at the Telegraph this morning are reporting that Johnson thinks that the Privileges Committee investigation with regards to him misleading the house will be a kangaroo court.

Are we seeing the first sign of senior cabinet colleagues distancing themselves from him?

Liz Truss....

I trust the privileges committee to look at the evidence properly and make the make the judgement appropriately and we need to allow that process to continue.
Asked again if Johnson would get a fair hearing, she replied:

I trust implicitly my parliamentary colleagues to listen properly to the evidence and make the right decision.

Which in of itself shows contempt of Parliament...

It's not just the ministers who are incompetent in this Government their Spad's are too. It won't be a surprise to anyone that Dorries doesn't have an interest in Rugby of either code, but someone in her team should

Can't help but feel this crop of ministers think they know better than their spads, so ignore a lot of what they say/what they don't want to hear. Like certain legal advice for example.
