Boris at it again and the contest to replace the lying c***

I can't help but think that this is it, now, and that we'll not see anything other than a Tory government for another decade or more. The ten years of slaughtering that Labour have had with the press will take forever to get undone; and we've built ourselves a culture now where people would rather just continue to be wrong than change their mind. With news-ecosystems, social media bubbles and every criticism being wafted away with whataboutery or hypotheticals, we're basically at a point where nobody will ever change their mind again.
Brexit ain't it. If you believe they lie, mislead and only act in self interest in other ways then you need to start considering whether they did it on that. People are too wedded to it to do so, hence the pass on everything else

Apparently when Mandelson was sacked for his home loan it inspired the infamous Johnson Bum Boy column

Starmer did very well. Asked questions calmly. Let the child lose his shit and not only let the mask slip but also make a couple of stumbles in words that will be back to bite. I fully expect another Dom blog tomorrow to prove Alex has just deliberately misled the House.

Darlo’s mate Sunak twisting the knife tonight. Admitted that he also had his flat at No.10 done up but paid for it all up front out of his own pocket with no contribution from the Treasury.

To be fair, Sunak is very wealthy. Johnson is having to live off a PM’s salary, has a partner with expensive tastes in home decorating and he has quite a lot of child maintenance to pay.

This mornings front pages are pretty interesting. Only the Express in favour with “Angry PM fights back”.

Every other title is on the attack. The Heil has definitely got the knives out and yesterday was questioning the payment for Fat Alex and she of expensive interior design tastes to bugger off to Mustique while a pandemic was taking hold.

He might not be able to bluster this away.

He has actually come out with the “nothing to see here” line. Unbelievable.

In all honesty, with all the previous Tory misdemeanours during his tenure he has managed to bat them away, whether it was the whole Cummings Barnard Castle debacle, him reportedly knocking Carrie about/being aggressive with her, shaking hands with Covid patients, hiding in a fridge, his dad, just being his dad, not sacking Patel for being a bully, not sacking Hancock for breaking the ministerial code, shutting schools one day after they reopen after Christmas or having Rashford make him climb down about free kids meals for the poor!

In each of those instances either the press haven't jumped on him as hard as they are now, or something else has popped up that has taken it off the front pages, he probably got so angry yesterday and today is saying "nothing to see here" as he thinks he's invincible given what he has got away with before, this seems very little in comparison to those others (even to me, who despises him).

(that was poorly worded, but i think you get my point)

I don't think he gets away with this one. There's too much flying about now.

This one may actually break him.

Hope so, but then again each time one Tory leader leaves i hope for someone better, and we get someone worse

Cameron > May > Boris > Gove?

Ugh..

The 'all politicians are the same' argument boils my piss. It's as lazy a narrative as something like all football fans in the 80s were hooligans. Broad brush throwaway bollocks.

Was that aimed at my post?

A new board member for the BBC. Nothing to see here either.

Since leaving frontline politics, Gibb has written articles criticising the broadcaster.

“The BBC has been culturally captured by the woke-dominated group think of some of its own staff,” he wrote in the Telegraph last year.

“There is a default Left-leaning attitude from a metropolitan workforce mostly drawn from a similar social and economic background.”
