Boris at it again and the contest to replace the lying c***

It’s the bit when Corbynistas actually think they are centre left and everyone else is right that cracks me up.
This is proper funny because you can't see this in yourself. The Overton window has moved so far right in this country that many people would consider New Labour to be centre left.* When a bloke comes along with genuine social democratic policies he's portrayed as a raving commie. I've said it before but a true centrist would see public and private sector of equal value and importance. No govt in my lifetime has held that view.

*Reader, they weren't.

I will be the first to admit my understanding of British politics and where it all fits into an ' ideology ' is fairly limited.

I would see all means of production and service as a 'social enterprise' with gains reinvested in people (according to contribution) and not played out on the stock markets. Consumption balanced against resources. The fit and healthy protect the vulnerable. Not sure what that makes me ?

But generally my view is whether left or right it involves an authority and control that is far removed from any perceived form of democracy. Hard to form a fair unbiased democracy when society can buy us off easily. Whatever equality or social justice is mooted people will rely on division to enable them to be more and sometimes far more equal than others. Centralisation just reinforces this power equation and I am anti-authority whatever form it takes.

All a bit of a charade. It reminds me of what Bill Hicks said about the roller coaster ride.

I am anti-authority whatever form it takes.
Go on....................... ? So doctors teachers, police, shop owners, train drivers, traffic wardens, airline stewardesses, librarians, your Mom etc etc all have authority over you at some point in your life !

And none of them put me in a gulag or a death camp because my beliefs were different. Or separated me from others because I may have looked different or not followed orders. Expertise and the common law are not the authority I allude to.

But you said " I am anti-authority whatever form it takes." when what you really meant was I am anti extreme communist or fascist ideologies as indicated by some of the most abhorrent crimes against humanity in history, I don't think anyone here will argue with you on that.

Thanks for telling me how to think, Paul. In the context of what I typed in that reply it is fair to assume what form of authority I was alluding too. "Whatever form it takes" was in reference to left and right.

" But generally my view is whether left or right it involves an authority and control that is far removed from any perceived form of democracy "

Other thing makes me laugh is how when it comes to taking measures to halt the spread the Tories suddenly become the party of mental health. Lockdowns and working from home are bad for mental health but not poor housing, low pay, job insecurity, lack of affordable childcare...

Pfft, I've read every one of David's posts. They're excellent reading, I particularly love him telling us all he lives on the same estate as the players.

It is indeed profound input.
Tough at the top mate, must be orrible down there

Aah, the old “I don’t believe it therefore it didn’t happen”. Fuck me backwards. Beyond contempt.

MPs to debate Boris Johnson's honesty tomorrow after SNP table censure motion against him
Tomorrow time in the Commons has been set aside for a debate on a motion chosen by the SNP. The party has announced that it is tabling a censure motion against Boris Johnson. The motion says:

That, this House censures the prime minister, the right honourable member for Uxbridge and South Ruislip, for frequently violating the sixth principle of public life, for seeking to undermine the recommendations of the standards committee on Owen Paterson, for regularly ignoring independent advice on matters such as international treaties and breaches of the ministerial code by his ministers, for putting forward proposals to diminish the powers of the Electoral Commission, for ignoring independent advice concerning the granting of peerages to Conservative party donors and nominations to public bodies such as Ofcom; and further calls for his ministerial salary to be reduced by £41,567 per year.

The sixth principle of public life, as drawn up by the Nolan committee, is honesty. “Holders of public office should be truthful,” the Nolan principles say.
Lolz.

Of course nothing meaningful will come of it but it's still wholly embarrassing for the useless wanker.

He should be made to correct the record constantly when he brazenly lies (at least a weekly occurrence, frequently he gets into double figures of lies in a week), but he's never forced to.

Perfect opportunity for Yvette Cooper to step up to the plate.

In recent posts there's details of massively restricting protests, feathering their mates' nests and effectively calling a colleague a liar regarding sexual harassment. How much will it take for the majority of voters to wake up and see them for what they are?

allegations he held a party in downing street last xmas notably not denied, although his response is that all rules were followed....

In other words “you can’t prove it and if you get any further information I shall contend all was above board as we were having a meeting”.

All after flat out denials any parties were held at all.
