I'd go with Boly at CB but then Saiss and Dendocker in midfield and just play whoever has the longest throw at the club where ever is needed, and just Burnley the feck out of these bunch of Burnleys!

just checked the tv live matches, hoping we may have been on, but hey no, lets keep it with Liverpool, Chelsea and Spurs ( for a fucking change!)

They are the top sides in the title or top four chase. We are 8th, and even with the four above us being quite shite are considered an outside bet at best. Not sure what you were expecting.

It's only on Sunday because Burnley are playing tomorrow

I'm slightly nervous about this match. They're fighting for their lives and with Everton grabbing an equaliser with the last kick of the match last night, all of their games are now classed as "must win". To be honest, if I had to pick a team to play in the league at the moment, we'd be right up there. I appreciate on paper we still look to have a chance of European football (and Man Utd will never be in as much of a mess as they are right now, so if we don't take our chance, it's our own fault), but we've had a few opportunities to really capitalise already and we've cocked every one of them up.

I think Burnley will just go back to basics. 4-4-2, physical, they'll press us - and they'll try to make life uncomfortable for our back 3.

Burnley were very good last night. Kept it on the deck a fair bit more than they did under Dyche, plenty of energy, should have won by more than 2-0, McNeil looked back on form. Admittedly Southampton are properly on the beach and showed no resistance after they went behind but it didn't look like a team who prior to kick off had only won four games.

Sadly I think we'll get beat, we've been largely poor for ages now and we look so short of ideas a lot of the time. He's also bound to pick a shite team, because that's what he does.

Didn't see the game, but on the 5live commentary they said they pressed Southamptons wing backs when trying to play out which again is very un Burnley. We have a better chance against them trying to play some semblance of football than we would with them just sitting deep asking us to break them down. As said countless times already on this thread - attitude dependent

I think Burnley played some football even under Dyche, obviously they were/are terrible shithousers but not a long ball team in the mould of a Pulis Stoke or Allardyce Bolton.
As has been said already its all about our intent, if we play with some kind of attacking intent we we should be at least in with a shout of beating them.

.............................Sa
Jonny.....Boly....Coady.....Saiss.....RAN
.................Donk........Moutinho
..........................Neto
................Raul..........Silva.

If Semedo is fit I'd play him and move Jonny over.
If Neto isn't fit, then it would have to be Trincao or Cundle in a midfield 3

I'd quite like to see that. Think it would suit Raul and Fabio.

Either Pod or Neto in the floating role would work.

We need to comfortable when we have the ball and nothing is on

Something I saw from soton was that they tried to force the issue and lost possession which have Burnley the opportunity to counter.

Soton could fairly easily have retained possession but instead tried to work openings with hopeful balls in behind.

Burnley were able to recover / turnover possession without having to really try to hard.

However, I don't want to see us trying play possession football in and around our penalty box.

Agreed DW. Was actually impressed with them, passed and moved and didn’t just play hot potato like they did in the Everton game under Dyche.

They still could have lost though (or not won). If Romeu scores the free header or Adams puts one of his two chances away which were very good chances then I reckon they don’t win. But Southhampton aren’t very good and their players aren’t very good.

Burnley seem to have gained some confidence and if we go there like we did against Newcastle then we might be in trouble. If we actually turn up and just put in a 7/10 then we will probably win.
