I'm as livid as anyone. I'd implore those of us from the matchday thread to give it an hour or two before spewing more bile here.

That's including me. I'm much more interested in what those who avoided the matchday thread have to say right now.

Dampest of damp squibs. Very disapointing.

Need Chelsea to do us a favour in the fa cup now. Hopefully they can put some of their “gamesmanship” abilities to our benefit. Honestly, I thought I was watching Bournemouth the way they went over. Attwell bought every single one.

Oh and Man Utd set a new premier league record for the number of penalties gained in a season. Which I’m sure is a shock to no one...

Every single player played badly except Rui. Yes Twatwell gave them the first goal, but we still conceded again awfully and never looked like scoring before or after the first.

I think we bottled it. 1 shot on target (and a tame shot at that) is never going to win games.

I hate it when we put attacking players at wing back to get "more attackers on the pitch" all it does is nullify our attackers and ruins our shape.

Jota was awful and Jimenez looked like a man whose been up all week with a new born.

Opportunity missed, and it's our fault.

VAR seems to be just another version of FFP - designed for keep the chosen teams at the top.

Poor second half performance.

The free kick decision (and subsequent goal) have absolutely knocked the stuffing out of us. The second goal is a real mess of a goal to concede, abysmal all round.

Think Nuno got some of changes wrong. Jota had a bit of stinker, and Traore to wing back unbalanced us in the same way it did against Arsenal (even if I understand why we tried it).

But if you think we’ve “choked” sixth place or are fuming about our final league position, you are embarrassing yourself. Self entitled but more so, moronic.

A brilliant effort, with hopefully some more joy to be brought from the europa league in some form.

Off day, simple as that. Nothing in it until that cunt gives a free kick for nothing, heads go and we’re 2-0 down. We weren’t coming back from that. Shit happens. Match day threads? No thanks.

2 minutes of madness. Felt like we were both holding each other at arm's length up until the goal and then that absolute shambles.

At 2-0 against a team as good as Chelsea that was game over.

Absolutely devastated. Thought since the semi final that we really needed top 6 as I fancy Arsenal to beat Chelsea.

Its disappointing game, but we aren't at a level to expect a result at the bridge.

We've had another brilliant season, and to have been in touching distance of the champions league and the top 6 is amazing. It will of course feel like a dissapointmet not to have achieved it as it was so close.

I can not fault the team though, we still have the europa to play and hopefully we have next season if Chelsea win the Cup. If we are serious about the top 4 then perhaps we will have to make a serious statement re signings

Also, Chelsea are a better team than us. They have been all season. That’s okay. It’s a shame about the performance (especially disappointing to only have one shot on target), but they are a slight level above us. That’s what we can aspire too - and that’s not unreasonable

We did choke 6th place. We missed out by a goal difference of 2 didn't we?

P.s. I'm not saying we didn't have a good season - but I bet you the Wolves players are disappointed in themselves for not finishing 6th.

And to round the day off nicely,1982FC fans are going to be giving it the big I am now they've just escaped relegation

It was men against boys I'm afraid and Atwell (Twatwell, Shatwell whatever genius comic name you want to give him) was conned for the free kick but he wasnt responsible for the rest of the game, they were better than us end of.

ps And some of the comments in the Matchday thread, have a word with yourselves

I said before we’d need a Palace favour we got one from them we just didn’t turn up. It’s as bad as we’ve played for a while. Regardless of the free kick I still think we’d have lost the game simply not good enough, in game substitutes were a bit odd.
Have to improve massively for a week thursday.

Honours even until the cheat Alonso got his free kick, then we had nothing left.

We should have pulled ourselves back into it, but it’s not surprising that we didn’t.

Not before they scored, it wasn’t.

I know it’s a one off game, but I expect Chelsea to beat Arsenal - they are so much better than them. I know it doesn’t work like that but most times, Chelsea win this game

Total non performance from us today. Who knows what may have happened had that free kick not been given but we got we deserved.

Overall, a 2nd consecutive 7th place finish is nothing to be too annoyed about - it's probably about right for where we are as a team at the moment. It's just really frustrating that top 6 was there for the taking. That penalty v Burnley really screwed us.

Come on Chelsea in the Cup final!

Nope youre having it so pin your ears back

You have given me pelters on that thread so you can have it back here

We have been very poor today , same as Arsenal and Sheff United. I will excuse Burnley as Mike Dean fucked us over.

We had this in our own hands at the restart and have not done enough its as simple as that. Giving me constant abuse because I dare say something negative on a matchday thread only makes me even more likely to call you out. Stop it. Its neither big nor clever. Ultimately we have fallen short. We still have hope via EL and FA cup

Today we were insipid in attack and gave Cabellero an easy afternoon. Which is not what was either anticipated or needed. In addition Shatwell proved himself again to be an average ref at best. Chelsea were falling over all over the place and winning free kicks.

We have had a fantastic season and done really well but in the games that really mattered we have often fallen short. Watford, Arsenal Chelsea , Sheff United, Burnley at home. We are where we deserve to be. Its fact not fiction so stop with the ire Alan. Its a bit tiresome

It’s such fine margins. Tottenham have ludicrously over performed, they shouldn’t be anywhere near our points total the way they’ve played this season. I can’t base it on one game just because it was the most recent one personally. Appreciate I’m probably seeing a lot differently to other/most people
