Clarke Carlisle

Thoughts with him and his family. We all remember Wigan away and what a good sport he was.

That's horrible. Hit by a lorry though? Suicide attempt? Either way hope he pulls through

Jesus, hope he's ok. I really like him, think he's an articulate intelligent guy who actually gives a shit and his work for the PFA and helping players cope with depression is commendable.

On the couple of occasions I've met him he's come across as a really nice bloke. My thoughts are with him and his family.

Injuries aren't life threatening, which is good to hear.

This resulted from a different accident than the one in Glasgow, I assume? Weird day in the UK.

Bizarre. Thoughts out to him and his.

He must have been in a terrible state to want to do this, such a shame. Feel desperately sorry for the lorry driver, too.

Where does it say it was anything other than an accident?

It doesn't. It was a stretch of road with no pedestrian access. You've either got to walk a long way to get to it for no discernable reason, or jump off the bridge.

+1 Let's hope the world of football thinks about the lorry driver in the same way cricket supported Sean Abbott

"Burnley said there would be a show of support for Carlisle with a minute's applause in the fifth minute of their Boxing Day game with Liverpool."

For the love of God why????

Why not? Seems reasonable to me.

Having been suicidal (I know, I know, I air all my dirty laundry on this forum), I know from experience that such an outpouring of support can make a massive difference in the affected's mindset.

He's been found, thank god. His wife is 6 months pregnant but our press have seen fit to doorstep her house all day

That is distasteful

Clearly Clarke is still struggling with his inner demons, and he and his family need support and care, and not microphones and dictaphones shoved in their faces.

I can't express in words how I feel about people whose desire is to hope someone commits suicide so that they can get a 'money shot'.
