Coronavirus

Well, last year, we had 112 consecutive days of hard lockdown in Melbourne and that literally nearly drove me insane. We had another 5 day lockdown in February this year (based on literally half a dozen cases) and our vaccine rollout is glacier in its pace here in Oz.

However, given what you guys have gone through in the UK in the last 6-12 months, I wouldn’t wish that on my worst enemy (or a Baggies supporter).

Interestingly the 5 day lockdown in Melbourne seemed to cause more angst than last years long one as many people were literally over any lockdown. I would fear what would happen in the UK after what you’ve gone through if another lockdown was mooted due to whatever reason.

This isn’t living it’s existing.
I really don't want to go back into lockdown later in the year and it affects me a lot less than most but the potential effects of not locking down properly or hard enough are to be seen currently in Brazil.

Just been told I have to visit a furniture shop at lunch time...do you I think I have enough time to persuade Boris to cancel this step of lifting restrictions?

We need some flooring for our bathroom, was considering going this morning but wondering if it would be better to give it a few days to calm down

back in the office. however as boris & co repeatedly said they'd update students after easter and still haven't done this, then the place is deserted...
roads seemed a little busy this morning on the way here mind.

It's our our local one, so shouldn't be that busy. It is however next door to a Spoons, so may have to battle through the crowds of people to get in the shop

Now, big fan of things opening today but I can't get my head around this picture

What do Primark sell that couldn't be purchased online at any point this year and if you are just wanting to go into a shop to feel a sense of normality, why are you up and in a queue before 8am (or 5am as some people have stated in interviews)

Unless of course that is all Home Office Staff armed with Credit Cards then its all cool

Reminds me of the joke I saw yesterday:

What's got 800 legs and 16 teeth? The queue outside Primark on Monday 12th

  • Haha
Reactions: b3h
More than 100 people waited in line outside the world's biggest Primark in Birmingham city centre ahead of the shop reopening at 7am on Monday

Saftness but some people kinda need to actually try clothes on cuz they're weird shapes and sizes. Is about the only reason i can think of.

Primark's website isn't transactional

Just do what my wife does and buy a crap load and then return what isn't required. The local courier has essentially become part of our support bubble this year...

I really don't want to be having a go at people or doing the standard online shaming of people attempting to live as normal a life as possible but queues for Primark are as baffling as the ones when Next do their sales.

I meant like, any website really rather than Primark itself.

As I put above, this is just about my head not getting the desire to stand out in the cold at 8am or before

Yeah I'm with most others, each to their own but never understood the joy in food or clothing shopping, just chores to me, rather do it online, even pre covid......just don't get shopping as a leisure activity.......unless its motorbike shops or camping/outdoor shops of course, vive la difference.

Driving down Newport high st, a little busier than of late but no big queues, just a few shops with 1 or 2 waiting their turn, nice to see a bit of activity.
Just back from Tapi on one of the Telford retail parks, again the car parks are a bit busier but people being very sensible atm

Furniture Shop trip done - Only people in there (apart from the owner of course), so that was nice.

Surprisingly the Spoons outdoor area not close to being full. The good people of MD taking it easy it seems.

I just walked through Bridgnorth High Street and it was the busiest I have seen it for over a year. Must say it was nice seeing things open again, people sitting outside eating and drinking, saw friends in the street, all just felt like a bit of much needed normality

Clearly the message hasn't got here yet - went out this afternoon & the town is still as dead as it has been for the last few months & only some of the other 'closed' shops have reopenned.

Still - haircut appointment on Friday so will be able to see more after that. (It wasn't a day here to sit outside a pub so that can wait)
