Coronavirus

Just received my fit to fly results, came back negative. Ready to go back to the US tomorrow morning at 10am!

Looks like a change in the vaccination programme. Nationally it remains the same but looks like in areas of concern, namely the Indian variants, they are opening up to anyone 18 and over. Three areas of Blackburn have started this today.

That is a very good move - was reading how similar actions improved a outbreak in the US

Presume Bolton and Bedford will be doing the same.

In Bolton, it appears the variant is only appearing in the U50's, which means those vaccinated are showing they work.

Obviously we will have OTT reporting on the variants, timing is perfect for the negative shite when restrictions are changed on Monday.

Already got that with mooted local lockdowns and a doctor finding cases of Covid infections in the vaccinated but no serious illness

Covid infection in a vaccinated person is a proper shit story. At no point have vaccines been labelled 100% effective so they are essentially reporting exactly what they do and manage to try and fuck with people by doing so.

Well, exactly. But it makes a good headline; even Radio Four were reporting it this morning FFS.

Looks like Blackburn have gone rogue

"Blackburn move was not approved by central government and NHS England is now demanding to know why they are going against priority list. JCVI is debating surge vaccination - but thinking is it won't combat variants effectively because it takes three weeks for immunity to build"

So, with the Indian variant dominating seemingly every news story on Covid today and the Government essentially pretty chilled about it is this#
A) Media blowing something up and once again trying to play with peoples anxiety ahead of what happens on Monday, when in reality the data is showing nothing thats not expected at this stage of pandemic i.e those with Covid in thos areas are generally all non vaccinated people and the vaccine is actually doing its job or
B) Our Government in cruise control again and hoping it sorts itself out. Could have put India on the red list weeks before they did, however they delay again allowed thousands of people to come in/back to the Country lovingly spreading the virus

The CDC is now saying that all fully vaccinated Americans basically no longer need to wear a mask. My store has a sign mandating the wearing of masks - something I am going to change but to what? and why?
My 1st thought was to insist that anyone not vaccinated must continue to wear a mask, but do I have a moral or legal right to do that?
I am fully vaccinated but my only employee is not and I want her to keep a mask on, but why? I could completely scrap the mask mandate but is that fair on her or on anyone else she may come into contact with?
I will put up a sign stating that anyone not vaccinated must wear a mask, and perhaps remove the sign dependent on how people react.

Old habits (and fears) die hard. I was in a large supermarket this morning and was literally the only person not wearing a mask.

Fat Alex definitely leaving it open for the final easing to not happen in June. Any restrictions will just get ignored. We’ve all had enough.

both

There’s literally minimal international travel yet there’s all this variants coming in all over the shop. What happens when international travel effectively goes back to some form of normality? There are going to be variants everywhere!

The vaccine either works or it doesn’t. Everything so far suggests it does and 100% of the at risk population have been offered the vaccine so stop trying to prevent something something you cannot prevent. Back to normal in June. May as well as not enough people will be listening by then anyway.

2 months ago India was hitting high numbers. Higher than some places on the red list. We are trying to do a trade deal with them so no red list. Pathetic really.

From the data, especially in Bolton, its showing high numbers in non vaccinated people and those who have only just had jab 1. People being admitted to hospital are in the age group to have had an invite for thevaccine but not had one.
Pic on Twitter for Bolton shows the areas with the lowest vaccine take up = highest increase in cases. Vaccines work.

Then you get local health boards taking what they see is prompt action by offering surge vaccines to everyone over 18. They get slapped down and told to stop. Then we get told the Government are looking at surge vaccines as an option. So again delaying what is a smart move just because they can't take credit for it.
