Still wearing one when I go into shops as are most at the time I am going to be in there , though the age profile down here is higher than the average area so they will be more concerned & likely to retain.

Didn't when I went in the Bank this morning, but I was the only one in there apart from staff who were all behind a plastic screen - plus I was using a paying in machine at the other end of the bank from them.

I’ve been covering the local bus routes & the majoritity of elderly passengers are still wearing masks (usually incorrectly). In shops it’s been a 50/50 & people are slowly removing there masks.

This Delta mutation is just spreading now and so many tired and whatever reason they have not to take the vaccine, i think it will be many more deaths in how the way it looks..in the US it looks horrible but of course you cant mandate people to take the vaccine, unless you work in some specific areas(Biden could release that now) in Sweden we are pretty good for now, but that can change in a minute

I've said before on here that I don't people should be coerced into having it against their will. I was reading a piece the other day about how alot of the vaccine hesitancy is coming from ethnic minority groups who are distrustful of the govt (justifiably in alot of cases). Just saying fuck you to these groups further alienates them from society, it should be about education and highlighting the positives of the vaccine rather than threats of exclusion. You can guarantee racists will jump on it as well and say any cases are a result of these minority communities. It's just a dangerous path to go down IMO.

Yep can't dine or have a drink inside unless you have proof of vaccination or had covid in the last 6 (I think) months.
Came in last Monday but this is the first time that I have heard any noise about it.

There definitely is an ethnicity issue at play, but far and away the biggest problem is the culture war between left and right. It does not matter how beneficial the vaccination (or mask) is, if it is touted by Dems and the establishment then it is pure evil to Tucker Carlson/Rand Paul/Evangelicals/etc.
Freedom is a right, and abusing it is more important than listening to the other side.

Had generally been pretty good and followed the rules etc over the last 18 months or so before eventually figuring it was time to nail my colours to the double-vaccination mast, deleting the app, and effectively ‘getting on with it’.

So headed off to London last weekend for a long awaited multi-rearranged hotel break, with pubs, restaurants, music venues, theatre, taxis and trains etc etc. Wore masks as per the protocols and washed hands etc but you know full well you are upping the stakes and putting your faith in the vaccine.

Soo…. typically….tested positive yesterday. Never occurred that it was Covid as the symptoms were very cold-like - stinging sore throat when swallowing, runny nose, a bit of a cough, feeling washed out and a touch shivery. Figured was only feeling so knackered because of burning the candle at both ends and only took a test because of the wife’s work and….bingo.

Then makes you think about your own sense of social responsibility. Only deleted the app a few days ago because got pinged the previous week and had to delay the break yet again. That irritation tipped the scales with the net result being myself heading out and about all over the place Covid positive with neither myself or any poor sod coming into contact having any idea whatsoever.

Needless to say will self-isolate now, as per the rule book, but deleting the app and taking your double-vaccinated chances as so many have screamed at us to do, does in retrospect feel a very foolish and selfish thing to do.

Not sure what the answers are, but people strutting about Covid positive with no knowledge or traceability whatsoever, on the basis they or the people they infect probably won’t die or need to go into hospital doesn’t feel like much of a solution either.

Interesting post CambridgeWolf. I’ve been pretty careful throughout the pandemic, but within the next to weeks I will be back at the football everyweek, in packed pubs and have a few gigs lined up. Life needs to go on and being double jabbed should hopefully allow this to happen.

Just seen an article on vaccination rates in the greater San Antonio area according to zip code (post code). We have very pronounced income/education/racial divides between different parts of the city.
There are HUGE variations in the numbers who have had at least one shot. Where I work has the highest rate (almost 89% of eligible adults) - to be expected in an educated area with above average incomes and access to vaccination sites, but also a bit surprising because there are quite a few MAGA types and some very religious evangelicals. Other affluent 'white' areas also have 75% or higher rates, the predominantly latinx parts of town tend to be 50%-75%, and the poor 'black' areas just below 50%. However the more rural areas on the edge of the city have much lower rates - barely 10% in some.
Suggests it is not just religion/politics/culture that affects rates - education and access to vaccinations are also a factor.
