Coronavirus

Just been stripped of my vaccination status, despite having J&J and a Moderna booster, Germany has now decided to remove anyone with a J&J vaccine from the officially vaccinated. Angry doesn't even begin to describe how I feel :mad::mad::mad:
Wtf, why have they done that? All the vaccines available in the West are approved surely

Third shot of Pfizer taken now, just over five months ago since the last one

German government said in December that people who’ve had J&J need a third shot three months after their second dose to be considered boosted.

A German Health Ministry spokesman told us (The Local, Germany's news in English) last week that due to more vaccination breakthrough infections affecting people who’ve had the J&J vaccine, extra protection was needed.

I think it's still unclear whether the 3rd shot (1x J&J, 2 Moderna/Pfizer) counts as boosted or merely vaccinated. I'm not waiting 2 more months, as of now I can't even enter a restaurant and means I can't work in my second job as a wedding photographer. Have an appointment for tomorrow a.m. but after that I think I'll leave it, Israeli data suggests a 4th dose in ineffective and too many in too short a time also reduces efficacy and effects the body's immune response.

Tested for covid yesterday and it was positive, i have had a bad cough almost all week with a bit of shivering, today when i woke up i had no taste or smell, so will eat whatever cheapest food there is to buy(of course im not going out myself to the store)

look after yourself fred!
mrs jelly was quite ill for a couple of weeks, and still has fatigue issues. I was lucky not to be quite as ill, but the fatigue/tiredness still hit me,

thanks LJ, will try to do that

The no taste thing is just fucking odd. Proper fuck up for your brain.

yeah, think it has something to do with the receptors..some people never get their taste and smell back(experts say smell training helps a bit, the earlier you start the better)

The loss of taste is secondary to losing your smell, as smell plays a major role in taste (hence why when you hold your nose you can’t taste as much).

The theory is that the virus destroys the nerve endings in your cribriform plate and therefore you can’t taste or smell. Probably that and congestion blocking/covering it too

When I had Covid I lost my taste/smell for a few days but it did come back quite quickly. I have since quite frequently been experiencing 'phantom' smells, in particular the smell of smoke, like cigarette smoke, when there is no-one anywhere nearby smoking. Someone else I know randomly experiences the smell of sewage or something rotten since having had Covid. Proper strange.

Wife had that smell of smoke sensation for weeks.

When my taste came back it had messed up. Things I liked such as cheese tasted vile and at the moment even slightly spicy food is a struggle to eat.

Christ, I think I’d starve if I couldn’t eat cheese or chilli.

Bloke I used to work with said everything tasted like petrol to him after he'd had it and started to get his taste back.

Not sure if there's any truth in this but I did read that taking zinc helps with the return of smell/taste.

I heard that from a friend of mine yesterday actually he is very into supplements, but you have to take a bigger dose, about 30 mg twice a day
