Coronavirus

So if that's the case, we're heading for more lockdowns - are you happy with that?
Masks in more settings, social distancing, working from home, furlow etc there are lots more mitigations left yet before we get to lockdown.

And guess what? The more we follow the mitigations the less likely we'll need lockdown

And exactly as before, the only thing that actually brings the R number down below 1, is lockdown.

We've had 3 national lockdowns since all this began - how is it not true?!
you stated that the ONLY thing that brings R down is lockdown.
That bit is what he is saying isn't true.

However, never mind that, if this bullshit government actually acted instead of saying that they might in 5 days time, that would be a start. Why haven't they learnt? "Oh, by the way, in 5 days we're going to close the boarders so all of you who are infected, get yourself back, quick"... just wtf

I said the only thing that brings the R down below 1.

If your not doing that, cases rise exponentially.

If your multiply any number by itself enough times it really doesn't matter whether it's 1.25 or 1.5 your starting with, it's going to get huge pretty quickly.

It is a losing battle to an extent though
Your right but that's not the aim, its about buying time whilst they try to work out what's going on with the new one.

Heard a virologist this morning on about it, he said that he expects that the vaccines should be OK but as yet they just don't know.
Also he pointed out, to date no one has got seriously ill with the new variant.

Fucking masks again. Fucking superb. The joy of not being able to communicate again. Thanks you cunt for mentally fucking the deaf.

Not good but then again there are people in places like Austria that won't actually exist as social beings unless the state controls what is put into their bodies. In Italy the same. It's a shit show ...

Supposed to be heading to Paris on Wednesday for a bit of a romantic mini-break with the wife for a few days then back to work on Monday. Now have to have PCR’s upon return and self-isolate until the results come through so that is at the very least work buggered for a couple of days.

Ok so that’s no big deal in the grand scheme of things but haven’t been abroad since this all kicked off, and booking a short-notice Eurostar trip to France 10 days ago didn’t seem like too much of a gamble. Gotta be honest and say I’m getting completely despondent about all of this. I really want to do the right thing regarding the protocols, particularly with the wife being a healthcare professional herself, but Jesus Christ everything just seems like a ball ache at the moment. Definitely struggling with the fatigue and can relate to the lack of will the boy Whitty has expressed concerns about.

You can pay for a PCR test at the airport that gets you results in 3 hours, or a cheaper one which is 10pm the following day.

Ah

Ahh ok, thanks, that’ll certainly help, hadn’t looked at the detail just the headlines.

Be interesting to see what the robbing b*stards what to charge for that but hey-ho, what can you do other than stay positive again and tell yourself it could be worse. Hmmm.

I think the 3 hours ones are £179 each from memory, about half that for the day after if you are double jabbed

£65 for a Day 2 PCR test in person, or sub-£50 for a postal one.
