Coronavirus

She's OK to be honest. A mild headache and everything else feels similar to hay fever if anything.

Can only really have come from her going to the office on Wednesday, we haven't been anywhere else since the weekend. Occupational hazard I suppose, you can't avoid it, it's out there.

I got pinged the other day for the first time (not sure why I still have the app tbh). I've just gone about my normal life.

Assuming you have access to tests, why wouldn’t you take one?

I got pinged (by US gov, didn’t even know they could do that), so took a test. It was positive. As I could stay at home I did - it’s not a particular hardship for me and if it might help protect others I don’t get why you wouldn’t do it. Different decision if your job involved having to leave home I guess, but if you can do it I still think it’s a useful thing to do.

Seems to be all over the place at the moment, know loads of people with it - a few which are fairly ill. It’s never ending, hospitals are getting overloaded again. Given we are going to be living like this for a very long time there is a massive investment needed in hospitals, not just a phantom new 40 hospitals.

Is there any word about further boosters?

Sounds like hospitals are getting pretty fucked again but it’s just being ignored by everyone

Although Mrs HW and I still wear masks, and use hand sanitizers regularly because of my weakened immune system, I am certain we are in a large minority.

However, because the vaccinations tend to lose effectiveness after a few months and people just don't seem to care, I can unfortunately see a shit show again this winter beginning around September.

Whilst I cannot see lockdowns happening again, people will need to mask up in shops and concerts. The government dropped all advice and regulation and we will all pay the price.

Windfall tax territory.
well, would be quite reasonable, but that just isn't going to happen. Why on earth they didn't include some form of clawback measure on any of the Companies involved measured against an entity's profits for instance. you look at the incremental profit (before tax) margin and it's c 70%, most of which is due to gvt/tax payer contracts.

Good dad joke about COVID I just heard:

"I miss living in precedented times"

Glad I’ve got him on ignore if he’s touting advice from that channel, it’ll be Lawrence fox stuff next

I think it's always useful to hear/see/read the alternative view, most of the time it helps prove yourself correct.
