Decent commentators

Bob Willis does my head in though.

I like listening to Bob Willis but he chamges his opinion about players as much as the wind. I'm surprised that he and Harmison sat in the same studio as each other as the stick he used to give him at times was unforgiveable. When the tracks suited Harmison he was a world beater, when they didn't he didn't offer much to the team. Willis as an ex-fast bowler should have cut him some slack regarding this but instead used his homesickness tendancies as a stick to beat him with. Harmison suffered as much as anyone from the poor planning of the England hierachy that under cooked them for various overseas tours.

He'll have an unnecessary jibe at Nasser at some point.

Nasser gives as good as he gets.

Can't remember the test but Nasser took Botham to pieces all day as he had gone to get the Media box at a ground but it had been knocked down as they are rebuilding but he still walked right up to it and was very confused indeed. Nasser took the piss every time they were together

Some good shouts on here.

Michael Johnson. Class in every sense.

Bill McLaren. Even as a child I had no idea what was going on in rugby. He made it exciting though. Never forget the welsh fans with the "Bill McLarens a welshman" banner at his last game.

Murray Walker. Passion and information rolled into one.

I'd agree with langdale - Leonardo proved to be a great and eloquent co commentator. Ginola has done well on motd2 as well.

Howcome no-one has mentioned Stuart Hall...

He makes me laugh on radio 5 with his match reports but is total self-parody now. Still thinks he is on It's a Knockout

I think he sounds permanently pissed these days. Still think he's great though. I remember one report on a Wolves v Leeds game from years ago (leeds had Strachan and Vinnie Jones in their side) when he compared the Wolves midfield to "A herd of wildebeest charging majestically across the plains" and the Leeds midfield as "Lions waiting to pounce on them". Brilliant stuff.

Stuart Halls old Its a Knockout oppo Eddie Waring was class as well.

When I have occasionally played golf I've hit a few shots that are Sally Gunnells- not pretty but a good runner...

Not a sister in law shot, then. Up there, but you shouldn't be.

Golfing Shots deserve a thread on their own, but a few that get wheeled out regularly,

The "Diana" - shouldn't have taken the driver.
The "Princess Grace" - should have taken the driver.
The "Gerry Adams" - provisional
The "Adolf" - two shots in the bunker.

I'm going to add Clarke Carlisle to this.

He is a 'pundit' on the U21 coverage, he makes well considered, well made tactical contributions and actually thinks about what he's saying. Makes a change

I've put this one back up to add balance to the returning Bellends thread.

I thought that John Rawling and Rob Walker were great on C4's paralympic athletics coverage.

Rob Hayles has impressed me as a summariser on a lot of the cycling. Wasn't convinced at first but he is hugely knowledgeable and doesn't seem to talk shite.

Robbie Fowler's been on ITV4 tonight as a pundit, very impressive.

two things springs to mind about Fowler..very good goal scorer, and him snorting the line celebrating a goal...haha

John Hunt - FiveLive's racing commentator.

Makes a sport that I'm not really that keen on sound fantastic.

Ed Smith and Tuffers on TMS are a good comination too. How do they keep getting the balance on that programme so bloody good. Even my Mrs doesn't mind listening to it in the car.*

*Until Blowers comes onto the airwaves.

Five Live's Wimbledon commentary is very good too. Not so much the Inverdale in-between bits, but the in-game commentary. When there's a tense match, boy do they ratchet it up.

There used to be a commentator for the Pittsburgh Penguins when I first moved here called Mike Lange. Ice hockey was a sport I had never followed or was interested in , but with his enthusiasm for the sport , knowledge, and his humour, I was hooked. For some reason ( in 2006 I think it was ) they let him go and he went to commentate on the radio. Much to the fans dismay and disappointment.

:icon_Yellow-Card:

Thats for reminding me of Tony Lange the ex Wolves goalkeeper.
