Everton 1-0 Wolves: Verdict Thread

Played some good football in the first half and dominated possession but as has become our norm, failure to take any chances sees us goalless again. Traore was our main attacking force and I think we should do what we can to sort out his contract. We're not in a position to be losing players like him. He frustrates at times but at others he is unplayable.

In contrast, Moutinho was awful and should have been hooked for Vitinha. His corners, be they short/hit the first man/keepers arms are a waste of time.

MGW did ok again and had that decent strike first half which was well saved, couldn't believe he was hooked especially to bring on the Brazilian washing machine. How the hell did he ever play for Real Madrid?

Ruddy had a good game considering his age and the fact he hardly ever plays these days.

Should have had a penalty, when I saw VAR was checking it I thought it was nailed on. Fuck this corrupt VAR bollocks.

A meaningless game but I'm pissed off that yet again we've failed to score a goal, particularly with the first half we had.

This was just another game that backed up what i've been thinking anyway which i expected but still disappointed me slightly. Our set pieces at both ends are so bad it's laughable, it seems like we can't defend any half decent delivery in to the box and that's probably because we can't deliver one so it's never seen in training. Lots of work to do particularly defensively as everything is wrong with the set up.

We started quite well but it did become give it to Adama and hope very quickly, we don't look to play any progressive football especially in central areas which is a massive mistake and it's why i believe it's not just players that are needed in the summer but Nuno needs to find a way of getting this in to his mindset and if he can't i don't think we'll progress as we should. For all the possession we had in the first half we didn't really play through them it was all about crosses and set pieces when it really shouldn't be.

Thought Fabio did ok again especially as he played as a split striker and was far too wide but he showed a turn of pace to get away from Godfrey a couple of times and used his body to hold the ball up well in the first half. Felt sorry for MGW again, he was played as some sort of number 10 but didn't have a striker in front of him and the the midfield 2 behind him were too far away most of the time or in Joao's case pretty bad anyway. An outstanding footballer at his best, without doubt in the top 2 or 3 i've seen play for us but he's struggled since before the first lockdown for me and has still continued to be picked far too often but that's not his fault.

The referee was really poor, allowed Everton to continually foul Adama in the first half without any punishment and along with the VAR missed a stonewall penalty. It's so clear it's untrue but again we were failed by the officials. The only decision worse than that was Nuno's to send Willian Jose on who just isn't trying at all, he shit out of challenges from the very moment he came on, played terrible passes and just picked up terrible positions. He clearly doesn't want to be here so it's great that there's only 1 game left and we'll never see him again.

Overall i just feel like we are and i'm a broken record. The same deficiencies that have been there for the last year are still there and yes injuries have affected us but i just don't see how Nuno is trying to get us to control games more and score more goals. The plan at the moment with any players just isn't going to work like it should. With that being said i'm looking forward to going on Sunday after getting a ticket, don't think i'll enjoy the game too much but i've missed going to games with my dad and i finally get to do it again.

Hyperbole is a nice get out to spout rubbish, and then try and brush it off when you get called out. Is it still hyperbole now as you're still calling him idiotic (or displaying idiotic behaviour)

Just because you've praised him before doesn't make it ok.
Thanks for telling me I spout rubbish & that I am arrogant tonight. Nice to know that moderators are capable of doing their job without rancour.

INCOMING!!
Read first page if this and saw some prick call our best player in about 50 years an arrogant idiot. Christ
‘best player in 50 years’. Christ!
Look at the total context of the posts before mouthing off. Is it OK to call you a ‘prick’ some time or would you be offended?

1. I haven't called you arrogant, that would be someone else. Not me

2. Just because I'm a moderator, it doesn't mean I shouldn't disagree and call out rubbish when it's posted. Doesn't affect my moderating

Why are you such Moutinho fans? - the guy is bordering on useless this season. Vitinha should have played tonight. Moutinho was great in the past. But it is the past - just as Johnny75 is the arrogant past whose only argument is to laugh! Explain to me what Moutinho contributed tonight other than wasting numerous corners & needlessly conceding possession to put Everton in on goal?
Come on then Lincs Wolf tell me what Moutinho contributed tonight. Marks out of 10? If he was running on empty then why not start Vitinha?

Well some guy has called me a ‘prick’ tonight. What is your opinion on that? Is that OK because in your opinion it is rubbish to basically state that Moutinho is past it? I have had constant abuse from some on this site & on the one occasion I retaliated it was me who was banned! My views are quite clear & they are not rubbish: we need to replace Moutinho & also Rui if his form of this season continues next season. Selling Traore would be a mistake & Silva will be brilliant. Controversial maybe but not rubbish.

I wanted to post this earlier but it was locked. I enjoyed most of the first half. I am amazed at the gap between the midfield and the front three. They are almost a forlorn hope. Worldy or nil seems to be the options. Still , let us hope the same positive football brings a positive result against a united side who have their minds on a final three days later.

It's odd as I felt like despite the possession I am struggling to recall any real work Pickford had to do now, the shot from Gibbs-White but felt like we were too wasteful with the shooting when they did get in position. Again not terrible, I had picked Ruddy up in my fantasy league and started him and someone at work asked me if I knew some kind of inside info to have done that! #itk

It was more I needed a cheap keeper and had a feeling he would start yesterday and then we'd see a side that is stronger last day of the season, as a sort of treat for fans returning, first time since the Europa exit etc.
