Would you try Cutrone and Silva as a pair with MGW behind?
That would be very attacking but if we were chasing the game with 10 to go I don't see why not.

I thought Silva's best work was linking play with some very neat touches to cut defenders out.

MGW can run beyond too so it would be very attacking and you have to have Donk / Neves in there with a back 4 behind and hope we don't get caught on the counter.

I'm not overly a fan of that midfield as they can be very static but they were good first half yesterday.

I'd like to see us get a genuine 10 in rather than Moutinho as an 8, Donk as a 6 and Neves as a 4 (nerd overload right there).

I think we need a far bigger goal threat than any of those 3.

MGW should be our Dele for the rest of the season, especially with Adama and Neto slinging balls in.
I agree. I would go with this midfield for the Everton game to try and stifle them centrally. Against West Brom I would play Donck, Neves/Moutinho and a ten (MGW or Vitinha).

We have to try and find goals from somewhere in the squad, cos aside from Neto either we don't have natural goalscorers or we're not playing them in ways that get the best out of them in that way

I think with everyone fit it'll be Podence & Gibbs-White competing for #10. Deeper midfielders 2 from Donck, Neves, Moutinho & Vitinha.

Looking at our squad going forward I think the obvious strength is that we can line up with 3 of the best ball carriers in the league behind the striker in a 4-2-3-1 (Neto, Podence, Adama obvs).

We are where we are and young Fabio has missed a few so Cutrone can do at least as well for me. He is not Raul but he is still ours and decent quality. He has a real point to prove. He also can finish if we give him the chance. I will take a point here but hope for three.
Btw can we put the Ruddy nonsense to bed please. He is a capable deputy who made a couple of fuck ups. He showed he is a decent back up v palace and he is our cup keeper. I hope he plays well every time he gets the chance. His loyalty is. Commendable

Can't fully agree with this. I'm sure he's a good influence behind the scenes, but one game (where he had no shots on target to face) can't undo concern over his previous cameos.

I wouldn't fancy him have anything like an extended PL run for us. We need better as Rui's understudy next season, for me

Lets use this game to prepare the players for Revenge.

Not too fussed about this game TBH, it should be used as a warm up game for next Saturdays Revenge.

With that in mind

I would play

Rui
Semedo
Cody
Saiss
RAN
Dendonker
Neves
MGW
Neto
Cutrone
Neto
Traore

MGW behind Cutrone with specific instructions to hit the box along with Dendonker, Traore and Neto wide.
Lets see if it can create chances against a decent Everton Team

Plus in an empty stadium and no players around from 9 years ago it'll just be another game to them. That actually should suit us

I don't care who we are playing, I want to win both, just don't buy into this attitude of the Albion being the most important (or Villa, Stoke, Blues) I don't mind a bit of banter between local clubs but this hatred always surprises me....its all a bit childish imo. I've known many baggies fans, some of them good mates and guess what 99% of them are good people.

It's a game against an awful side, which we can always slip up against, of course.

I feel Nuno has a better hand at beating these kind of teams than when we first came up though. We seem to have moved on from regularly taking points off the big boys and struggling against the crap. Bit more of a mix now

My brother in law is a baggie. He is sound as they come. We just disagree about football but in a civilised way. Hell he took me into his local the Horse and Jockey which is a totally Albion pub and introduced me as the family Dingle. They all jokingly turned their backs and engaged in some banter and then proceeded to make me very welcome. It’s rivalry, not hatred.

Cunning plan to clone Neto and play him in 2 positions

When he's played for us in a central position and for England youth.

I get that you don't rate the kid and it's OK to not agree with me.
Ha, cool.

It’s not that I don’t rate him, just never seen him do anything of note (few minutes v Spurs, Chelsea, granted).

If he wasn’t from Stafford, there’s absolutely no way that our fans’ patience would have held out this long for him.

I just find it weird when people say “I’d start MGW”......when it’s based on absolutely nothing.

Hope he turns out to be a superstar though - same as anyone that plays for us.

Sure they’ll be too professional to get distracted by playground tribalism.
