Darren Potter has retired. Played one game for Altrincham this season and obviously thought "nah" and packed in.

Taking up a role in Port Vale's Academy.

We did so well in that first season under McCarthy to finish 5th with a central midfield of Olofinjana and Potter

To be fair Potter played wide right more often than not (and got unfair stick for it, he was just filling a gap as we had no-one else to play there even though it wasn't his position), it was Henry and Seyi if we played two up top which we did the majority of the time.

Potter only really got a run in the middle towards the end of the season, Henry played a tiny handful of games at RB for reasons I can't remember and then he got injured anyway.

He was excellent when we beat Albion 1-0, our best outfield player by some margin on the day (Murray was obviously MOTM and the main reason we did finish 5th).

The first half of that season was mad we had players such as Clapham, Little, Ricketts, O'Connor, Clyde, Craig Davies, Jemal Johnson etc - obviously playing to varying amounts but until the January we were forced into using a fair number of players that weren't Championship quality and ended up in the play offs.

You can put out a special team of players used that season (these all played in the league too):

----------------------------------Budtz-----------------------------

Little-------------------Wheater-------------Fleming-----------Clapham

Gobern---------------O'Connor-------------Ricketts------------Jones

------------------------C Davies-------------Clarke---------------------

I think we did actually put those two together up front at least once. Crikey.

Jemal Johnson was limited but his three goals got us two 1-0 wins and a 1-1 draw vs Sunderland who ended up winning the league, that'll do for £100k or whatever it was.

I'll always remember his sliding celebration after scoring against Sunderland.

Quite liked Jamal, perhaps should have made more of himself.

To be fair there wasn't a lot of him to make more of :)

He was summer 2007, one of the early Morgan era signings.

He scored Sunderland's goal in the game where Johnson scored! Looked pretty good too but I think physically he was already starting to creak, had a lot of injuries before we signed him.

Jemal was playing for the Jacksonville Armada when I moved here. Almost got to ask him about his time with Wolves but was stopped by security. Bastards.

I thought Wheater should've had more of a career than he did..Bolton. Wow.

Doc hurt? Didn't even make the bench for Spurs today.
